Case Copperheads- pics and experience wanted

What handles did you order?
I'm partial to the "Caribbean Blue" myself although I think of it as "Petty Blue" ;)

I see there is going to be a Wharncliffe version with Richlite handles. As far as I can tell this material is similar to the Paperstone Buck used briefly a few years ago. I have two of the Paperstone bucks and its a pretty nice handle material.

I ordered it in Caribbean Blue Bone...... I think it will be a great looking knife......

I think this is why you see old sheepfoot, and lambsfoot blades with the edge near the tip climbing towards the spine more than just poor sharpening technique. When just the edge 1/8 to 1/4 from the tip gets blunted people tend to just touch up the damaged area. With straight edge knives this eventually leads to it becoming a funny looking spear point. Conversely the belly on clips and spears see the most wear and if people again just touched up the dull area you see a straightening the edge. Thusly a pen blade becomes an awl and a spear becomes a funny looking lambsfoot. Our patron saint of relic knives @r8shell has displayed many such old wonders, I believe it was her I seen say something to the effect of "given enough time all blades become awls" ;)

Haha!!.... Lots of truth to the awl statement....

Cool picture... I like that color too.:thumbsup:

I ended up ordering 3 more 2021 Copperheads...... Caribbean Blue Bone Wharncliffe; Amber Bone CV Peach Seed; Dark Red Bone CV Peach Seed..... The Blue Bone and Amber Bone arrived today....

Because I previously sent a Yellow Delrin Copperhead back to Case for centering correction, I thought I'd add "Please check blade centering" to the order....

I guess I could have saved the keystrokes as this is the Amber Bone as I received it today.... The Blue Bone Wharncliffe arrived nicely centered.... I'll contact the supplier regarding the condition.... If that fails I can contact Case about another centering repair job....

Yep, I love Case, but would not be happy with that. Can you show a side view of the Amber Bone? I wanted to pick one of those up myself.

I agree with you, Mike. It's a fantastic knife. Had to force it out of the pocket this weekend, but it'll be back tomorrow, and an amber bone versions should be landing next week!

Had a bit of a pocket knife Inception moment today... Opening a package with my new Copperhead in it with my other Copperhead. We need to go deeper!

New boxes for the amber bone CV ones, it seems. My yellow CV came in a normal box.

I received this Red Bone Peach Seed 2021 Copperhead today..... CV blades...... Nicely jigged....... Functionly fine...... This is the 5th 2021 Copperhead I've bought.... 2 have been decently centered.... 3 have had the main blade scrunched into the mark side liner...... This one20210315_222732.jpg 20210315_223500.jpg 20210315_225300.jpgis no exception..... I've sent one back to Case for repair..... I have a RMA to send another and now this one..... Not sure why they can't center a blade?...... Maybe the gravitational forces are stronger in Bradford, PA.?

I have a vintage '84 and a '21 amber bone inbound. I'm excited. I didn't like the pattern when I saw it in the past, but after looking at it and learning a bit about be it I like it, and how it looks has definitely grown on me. I'll post when I get it.

Ah man, that sucks :(

I'm not one to be picky about non-centered blades. That said, if the blades are against the liner...Disappointed.gif

I just shipped a yellow CV pocket hunter back to the dealer today. The blade was into the liner and it had serious wobble. I've come to expect a little blade play on new Case knives, but this was a lot. I received it last Friday and over the weekend I thought about contacting Case, but then just decided it was such a poorly made knife that I didn't want it. Got up this morning and called and got an RMA. Glad its gone. I like Case knives a lot, and I don't have any idea of what havoc covid and related state closures have wreaked on Case, but they've got to do better.

Like the looks of the red bone btw :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I went to a Case store today to buy one of the red copperheads. After seeing your yellow one, and the pocket hunter I received, I thought I'd just go get one in person so I could get a good one :) But they didn't have any :(

Good luck with it.

I carried my yellow one today. When Case gets it right, they make one fine knife and this is one of them :)

I'm not picky at all.... I really like the red one I got today except for the centering..... But, if that is what Case produces I guess it adds to the collectability.........Kinda like the Yak Lady at the county fair with her horns....... This is a genuine Case knife... "You can tell by the way the blade is scrunched into the liner"......

I’m really glad to see folks posting their acquisitions up here... I’m not sure I want the hassle of getting an RMA. I still think about getting one of these from time to time, but the lust is leaving me.
