Congrats on your new Case/Bose... She's a Beauty.
This thread seems to have sold quite a few of these knives recently.

Taylor, just do it! What convinced me was seeing an interview with Tony and listening to him describe how these are the closest factory produced knives to one of his hand made customs which he astutely points out that most collectors can’t afford. 😃
Yea…I keep coming to check em out…

I know I saw that video too lol. Idk what pattern I’d go for. I like the large stockman a lot. The swedges look amazing.

Latest one to be added to the stable - figured I would try out their Ebony. Very nice knife and I actually like this iteration of the Eureka Jack better than GEC's, the main blade is more nimble and overall, it is a very efficient package - lots of knife packed in that tidy frame.

Awesome lineup. You jumped right in 👍 So which one is the favorite, or is it too early to tell?

That's a looker, Dylan! I've really grown fond of the Eureka Jack I have. Just right for my needs.

Dang Dylan how many more of those gentlemen are you going to pull out?!!!

Thank you! And yeah, I put off taking the leap for quite a long time and now that I've gotten my feet wet, it's been difficult trying to pull myself out of the puddle.

You pose a good question - I like all three for different reasons but the WT has definitely occupied my pocket the most. The Coffin Jack is the most comfortable in hand but the blade combination isn't my favorite. The WT is easily one of the nicest looking knives with the fluted bolsters and curvaceous frame - plus, the blade combo is really hard to beat. Enter in the Eureka Jack though, equally useful blade combo, inky black ebony, and sporting some of the best F&F between the three, we will see how the relationship goes over the next few days.

Thank you, Gary. The size is right, the blades are right, and it's darned good looking - hard to beat that, quite frankly.

GEC does tend to make their Spears a little fat.
I love your new addition, congratulations... It's a beauty.

Thanks, John. I agree on that point regarding GEC's spears. Plus, the spear on GEC's 92s is a funky shape that sports way too much belly towards the tip - useful if I am going to be skinning something really small but it gets in the way of most of my everyday cutting needs otherwise. The spear blade on the GEC's #15 pattern is pretty perfect though.

Who knows? I'm not sure what I will look for next. I wouldn't mind trying out a Cattle Knife if I can find one - otherwise, I might try and scoop up a Stockman and/or Dogleg Jack (also, if I can find one).

I think Tony would consider it a useful tool. He wasn't really into safe queens and knife purses, hence the reason he started the Bose/Case collaborations, to let people carry and use a knife as close to his handmade ones as possible.

You know what? I don't like using the term "work of art" to describe wonderfully made, beautiful things. It implies that art has a monopoly on beauty.

Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.
Tony Bose was an Artisan.
His craft was an art in and of itself so his knives are works of art, but he did not intend to create objects to be admired in their aesthetics only and one can easily find him saying as much, so he was not intentionally creating art.
There are plenty of examples of knives made as artwork I think. I wouldn't include Tony's knives in that group because he made tools. Incredibly pleasing to look at and admire tools, but to be fully appreciated as intended they have to be used.

Honestly, the subject of art itself in the eye of the beholder. Whomever thinks Tony's knives are art are exactly correct! Whomever thinks his knives are not art are also correct! :)

Seriously though - I do think there is art in sublimely created functional objects and tools. Tony's work certainly applies in the eyes of this beholder.
