Those are fantastic Greg. That Ebony is really sweet.
All this Damascus is killing me.
I really like the Premium Stockman, but I don't like a knife that big in my pocket. I have two different flavors of the Premium Stockman, and I carry them in a small belt pouch. I find that alot of the time it's less trouble getting them out of the belt pouch than it is digging it out of my pocket.I previously told myself that the premium Stockman is too big for me but that clip blade is sure hard to deny.
This won’t help your opinion of it but I think it looks really nice.I'm still trying to decide if I like this BoneStag or not. I tend to prefer richer colors and more traditional jigging but it's been nice to experience at least. The knife itself is pretty darn stellar regardless.
Thanks, Todd. Hard for me to resist ebonyThose are fantastic Greg. That Ebony is really sweet.

Wow, that looks great Bart. I like the color, how about a shot of the pile side.Well I couldn’t resist. I’ve been wanting the WT for quite a while. I finally ordered one and it came today.

The dye could be a little darker I suppose, but all around a fantastic knife. I’m very happy with it. Great blades, swedges, action, jigging, and I love the fluted bolsters. Into the pocket it goes.
I keep going back & looking at that exact same one. I hope they sell out of those darn things soon.Well I couldn’t resist. I’ve been wanting the WT for quite a while. I finally ordered one and it came today.

Congrats, Bart! Mine came last week, and my initial reaction was similar to yours -- though, I feel the Chestnut covers seemed a bit more "orange-y" than usual.Well I couldn’t resist. I’ve been wanting the WT for quite a while. I finally ordered one and it came today.

Thanks, Todd. Here’s the pile side. Just a little darker all around, but both sides are nice.Wow, that looks great Bart. I like the color, how about a shot of the pile side.![]()
That’s interesting, Jim. I’m almost certain they are glued on. Does it feel loose? Mine had some gunk in the jigging around the shield. I rubbed it with an oily cloth and it went away. I assumed it was buffing compound. I agree, I’m glad to get one while they were still available. Super nice knives.Congrats, Bart! My only minor complaint with mine is that the pointed end of the shield has lifted up a bit, so that the sharp point can snag your finger. My understanding is that the shields on the Case/Bose Collabs are pinned, but it seems that the pointed end of the shield had been glued down and has lifted up over time. That being said, I feel lucky to have been able to get one of these before they're gone.

Thanks for the feedback, Bart. Honesty, I don't know whether the shields on these are pinned or glued. I had read somewhere that they are pinned -- but, as Abraham Lincoln once famously said, "Don't believe everything you read on the internet."That’s interesting, Jim. Nice WTs guys! I just inspected mine, to see if I can detect a pinned shield. I can definitely see the pin, looking into the blade well, on the liner side of the shield. I also used a jewelers loop to check the shield itself, and although it's not easy to see, I can see the faint outline of the pin. I also looked at my Eureka Jack, Coffin Jack, Norfolk and both lock back whittlers, they all show a pin on the liner side of the shield. My understanding is that the shields on the Case/Bose Collabs are pinned
I believe it’s been stated by Tony or Case that the shields are left intentionally a little high to keep as much of the jigging intact as possible. It’s possible to lightly file down the edges a bit if desired, but I like them the way they are.My only minor complaint with mine is that the pointed end of the shield has lifted up a bit, so that the sharp point can snag your finger.

That helps a lot. Thanks for clearing that up, Gary.Nice WTs guys! I just inspected mine, to see if I can detect a pinned shield. Hope this helps!

Great info, Jason — thanks much!Gentlemen, the shields are pinned on all the Case Bose annuals. If you want to richen that bone coloring up it's a quite simple process. Buy a small 4 oz jar of Fiebings Pro Dye leather dye. I recommend dark chocolate. With a small paintbrush apply the dye to the bone. I usually coat it a good 4 - 5 times and get a nice thick layer on there. Don't worry if you get it on any of the metal it wipes right off. Metal doesn't absorb dye.Next trun your oven on and preheat to 150*. Stick your knife in the oven for about 8 minutes. I leave mine in for exactly 8. Pull the knife out and wipe with an old cotton cloth. Enjoy! Here's an example. This cattle knife had Chestnut bone originally. FYI the heat opens up the pores in the bone just enough to allow the dye to penatrate and hold.
