Most certainly contact CASE, they have an excellent warranty programme. I've not had to send a Collab in but they've fixed my concerns with 2 standard knives 100% to my satisfaction. AND I might add, I'm not living in the US or a US citizen so if they treat overseas consumers this well they'll stand by the domestics tooI may try and reach out to Case and see if this is something they'd fix under warranty. I kind of agree with you on this.
The pin and bolster were sanded smooth in finishing the bolster. The pin appears to have worked itself loose and crept out a bit. So it must have been ever so slightly undersized, which would also account for the play. Doubtless the warranty should cover it as it is a functional issue rather than cosmetic.I would not like to find an exposed and tactile pin like that on a Collab. Blade play as well you say? Should not be at this level in my view.
Until you mentioned it - I didn't know the HTT lacked half stops either. The Pruner also doesn't have half stops, I'll have to research and see what other collaboration knives share this trait. Speaking of idiosyncrasies, I like those flush shields on the ebony wood covers just as much as I like the (intentionally) proud shields on the bone covers ... why did I not acquire an ebony Norfolk while I could? alas.Thank you, I was a bit shocked to find that the HT Trapper doesn't have half stops
Couldn't hurt to reach out! I found them responsive when I had an issue with my Lanny's Clip (maybe a day to respond via email, saying to mail it in) and the fix itself took probably a week? The biggest anxiety was just having it through the mailing system (but that's unavoidable). That's just anecdotal but hopefully serves as a data point.I may try and reach out to Case and see if this is something they'd fix under warranty. I kind of agree with you on this.
I sent them an email, I think it's just that the pin is a little loose. I would assume that's something they can easily fix. I bought the other two (Lanny and stockman) from same seller and they are flawless. I'm guessing he may not have even been aware. This thing seems untouched so may have just been a factory quality issue or something, I'm not going to loose a lot of sleep over it. I'm guessing Case can remedy it one way or another.Until you mentioned it - I didn't know the HTT lacked half stops either. All of this talk of half stops and I had been wondering, so I might as well ask. Does the cattle knife have half stops on all blades?Thank TIH. Yes, that is the Cattle knife on the left, large Stockman in the middle, and Bullnose Trapper on the right.
If I were to get a collab, I think I'd get the cattle knife as opposed to the stockman as I like the smaller size of the cattle knife better.Awesome, heck of a trio. I need a Cattle knife for sure now after seeing it next to the Stockman.
I was looking for a cattle in ebony but only found the premium stockman, iit does fit in the hand really well, I have medium/large size hands and a four finger grip pretty much covers the ebony covers. I would still love to find a cattle in ebony though. I'm also thinking a ebony coffin jack would be a great one to own.All of this talk of half stops and I had been wondering, so I might as well ask. That needs to go back for warranty. No question. Thanks, the clip blade is a bit loose though and the the pin on the clip side bolster isn't flush (I can feel it when running a finger over it). Not sure if that's a defect or just normal. The knife is definitely new or certainly hasn't been used or abused. The ebony wood feels a bit different than the other three as well. Maybe just needs some cleaning up perhaps.View attachment 2100434
My Yukon Jack doesn’t have a half stop which is a good thing given it’s large blade.Until you mentioned it - I didn't know the HTT lacked half stops either. I guess I've just gotten accustomed to more premium slipjoints having half stops. I'm not really sure why it makes it more of a premium feel but for me it just does. A lot of my GEC's don't have them either. I know it's nothing more than a safety feature at best. I remember as a young kid messing around in my Dad's tackle box he had a three blade slipjoint and I cut the shit out of my fingers when the blade closed on me so maybe it's just childhood trauma for me but I prefer to have half stops on slipjoints. My Yukon Jack doesn’t have a half stop which is a good thing given it’s large blade.
To me I like both. When it comes to “premium” I was once told by a maker at a knife show that half stops were easier to make perfect just like it’s easier to freehand draw a straight line than a circle.I guess I've just gotten accustomed to more premium slipjoints having half stops. Is there anywhere to find a comprehensive list of Case Bose Collabs with specs? I've not been able to find one.

Yes, the Cattle knife has a half stop on each of the three blades. All of this talk of half stops and I had been wondering, so I might as well ask. Does the cattle knife have half stops on all blades?
Great little knife! I have a Eureka in ebony, and I kind of babied it at first, but there's no need to. Ebony's been used for knife handles for a long time & holds up pretty well to hard use.I finally got one. I have been enjoying the thread and decided to get a Eureka Jack. It came today and I am happy with the FF. I am glad I pulled the trigger. Great knife.
