Cast Iron Beckerheads, Sound Off!

It was an absolutely perfect weekend at home and since I'm home on the weekends now I get to do some cooking...

The old girl still gets as hot as I remember.:D

When you get her good and hot she really cooks!

We love using our cast iron from roasts, roast chicken, and soups in the big pot to burgers and bacon on the flat top. The flat top griddle also has a grill on the other side and can be used with the panini press pictured sitting on top of it. The small pans get used for almost anything imaginable from eggs to pork chops.

We make sure that they are seasoned again if something acidic is cooked in or on them. It seems that tomato based soups like the chili I make take it out of the pot pretty well and then it must be re-seasoned after washing.

I'm building up my cast iron collection. I'm really looking forward to some awesome cooking concoctions.

My father has a cast iron skillet that has been in the family for generations and actually came from Pennsylvania to Colorado in covered wagon

I'll see if I can get a pic

Seriously, would love to see that skillet.

Cast iron cookware is incredible.

I just want to know what beer simmered cruciform is. My family is about 60% irish heritage, and I have only had corned beef and cabbage once. At a friends house. Irish have pretty bland food I think. At least they got their alcohol right.

Over Thanksgiving I stoked up my tiny firepit with coals and prepared dessert for the family.
3 cobblers baked in my dutch ovens! They all loved them!

Weather is getting nicer up here in the great North........time to get out the Sportsman!!!!

I need to get some new Cast Iron. "New" of course being relative cause I'd LOVE to get some old Griswolds. Whenever I go to grandma's house I use her #5 and/or #8 and I fall in love each time!

There's a place here that has a bunch of wagners, either 5's or 8's, for around $30. They look brand new, just need to be seasoned

Off topic, is Penny a Black Mouth Cur. She looks very much like my mix, shorter snout. Otherwise the same.
