CBM's - Customized Benchmade's

I'm looking to make my first set of scales for a Benchmade, as Keyman is well aware; I've made a few inquiries.
I would like any advice you guys have on getting a good fit at the edges on black liners.
The scales I've done were on lock-backs or knives with satin liners, so you could leave the scales proud, sand all the way down to the liners and polish the edge and liners at the same time. On black liners this won't work or you will end up with black liners that have polished silver edges.
I see several post where the fit is excellent and the liners are black.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I use an exacto knife to outline the liner or the factory scale onto the new scale material.
Then when sanding the scale to shape; I bring the edges down until the just line disappears.
On some materials it is very difficult to see this line.
So, you may need to use a super fine marker to make the outline.
Either way, I mount and dismount the scale to the liner, to check the fit, about a million times. :D

Thanks for tip on tracing the liner with an exacto knife or similar. Fitting them a million times making small corrections is about what I figured.
Keyman: Did you get my latest PM about the standoffs? Thanks a bunch!

More prop to Keyman on the helpful hint he gave me on correcting an of center blade. I had picked up a mini-grip used and the blade as slightly off center, almost rubbing. His instruction cleared it right up. Dead center now and has been for almost a week. Used it some and opened it about a 100 times. I couldn't find the original post and wanted to offer thanks.

Made a few of these. Full CNC'd OD Canvas Micarta mini Griptilian scales. I like them, definitely keeping a set for myself.

Seeing these just makes me envious that I could be half as talented as some of you guys. Nice work on those micarta handles.
