Did this material start out with the round (rounder) texture and you worked it down (sanded) until that texture pattern came out? Or is that the texture as manufactured? Looks good.

It's paper micarta with a with a textured surface they call "basket weave".
The textured surface was created by the manufacturer prior to purchase.
This actually creates a lot more work when trying to produce custom scales.
Standard materials are flat on both sides.
Put it under the drill press, or the dremel, and it lies flat.
Flip it ove and tada!...it lies flat again, easy peasy.
This stuff only lies flat on one side, not the other.
You need to drill all the through holes from the back side and then all the counter bores from the front side.
It's worth it though, the grip on these is freakin' awesome!

I got the scales and pocket clips from Cuscadi. It wasn't cheap, but the fit and finish is perfect. The scales make the knife feel beefier. I'm a big guy and have big hands so now I really love my Barrage.

So a lot of people have been asking for these. Finally found some good CF that's thick enough for the large griptilian. It's looking pretty good to me.
