CBM's - Customized Benchmade's

This is not a custom...yet. Placing an order with DOAT next week for the scales. But I'm proud of my ingenuity with the jimping. I have ideas for the blade and finish, thinking high polish on the flat to contrast with the satin hollow grind. The current blade markings are going to be lost but I'm hoping to get lucky and have a nice ghosting.

The roundish jimping didn't jive with my callused thumbs. I thought about re-profiling the jimps(?). My files are shot so I just ran the dremel wheel down the centre. It looks better than the picture (lighting is hard on angled surfaces). I wish I had waited and used a proper bench setup (knife and dremel in hand with hazy safety glasses). I'm 85-90% happy with the overall result. 110% happy that I didn't ruin the knife in my stupidity not using a clamp.

In use it's night and day. They grab on securely but don't feel overly aggressive, it's just a smaller deeper contact. I'm going to fix it up but I need magnification on the bench before I'll try.

Hats off to you guys that put the hand work into those scales. These are well executed in their own right, really nice.

Nothing fancy here, just some improvements to make this blade more to my liking. De-assisted with lock and backspacer removed in favor of pillars. (Thanks to BooBar for link to supplier's page for those.) Changed out silver bolster screws and added black thumb lugs from BM.

First time posting a pic. Sure don't have the hang of it yet…

Oh, there you go. Thanks, Spark!

It's some custom coating?

Do you mean the blade?
No.
That particular LE run of M4 Ritter's came with a stone washed DLC finish.
I've got a matched number mini and full size from the same run.
That stone washed DLC is an awesome finish, my very favorite black finish.
It's even somewhat iridescent in the right lighting and very hardy too.

Rift again. For comparison - pics before and after mods

Now it's comfortable knife :)

Experimenting with a new shape here.
The shape of these Python Micarta scales was inspired by the 710.
I've been wanting to do this blending for a while now.
I like them. :)
I also did away with two of the standoffs and thinned the scales to .160".

I really like this man! Looks great!
