Sadly, I realized I didn't like the lanyard until I cut and melted the last of my blue 550. Until I fix the lanyard, it's going to be standard rather than deep carry for the clip. OOPS
The gimping on the blade needs some refining, but it works fantastic. After hearing some complains about the less than aggressive gimping, I realized that it would eventually bug me. A pass with a dremel and cut off wheel down the center turned the six rounded gimps into 12 guncheck-like pyramids.
Very happy with the scales, full confidence in recommending DOAT's work (not that others aren't as good). The feel is much better and I even have better blade alignment than factory. It was so far off that it looked like the handle was curved. The griptilian is an 'economy' knife but the QC was playing loose the day mine was made
Yes, it has the black liners and axis lock. I polished the edges of the black steel liners on this one. The scales are backed with black G-10 liners.
Is your 707 the 707-1201 variant? I have two of these and they both have black liners and axis lock. I dont know of another M390 707 made. Is there another model 707 with M390 steel.
This is why I was looking for a new pivot. I thought about using all satin hardware. It looks OK with black hardware. It is the reason I used black G-10 liners; trying to add more black to compliment the hardware.
Blue Twill with an engraving... not a great material for engraving, the twill pattern really hides it at a lot of angles. Would have been better on regular G10
