It's in the regular catalog. Regular production knives get discontinued regularly if they don't sell well, but for now, this one doesn't look like you need to panic - unless you need your S90V fix. :thumbup:
 
This one set to deliver late April according to Benchmade customer service. Pretty good while to wait or a pretty good while to save $$$ and be ready.

I wish BM wouldn't put out that damn catalog unless they were ready to go with the selling. Now I got to think about this crap all the time just waiting around thinking of how awesome these knives would be in my pocket. Well I guess the 707-1201 (M390) will have to keep me company till then...

Aw, c'mon. I can B&M with the best of them about Benchmade's conduct of its business, but this...nah, everyone does that. :rolleyes:
 
IMO this 940-1 is the gem of the bunch, and with S90V and CF the price isn't bad. If this remains a stock item it will be something we've been asking for and a dream come true for 'Steel Snobs.' You reading this DJ?? :D
 
Call it a B... or M....., but it was really neither. More of a personal struggle I will have to deal with. Good strategy on their part to get the word all to make opening sales strong. I'm pretty sure I know what it's about, but that doesn't make it any easier waiting...

Me too! After years of waiting I bought one anyway, just a couple days before they announced this and I hate it (the green and purple). I could kick myself...

Totally agree: a 943-1 would be PERFECT.

I'm thinking of getting a 940-1, and swapping out the blade with my 943 -- to have my ultimate (larger/more tactical) gentleman's folder, a 943 with carbon scales. (I might then sell the remaining "Franken 940," a black aluminum-handled knife with the S30v/940-shaped blade in it. I'm just fine with S30v...)

Thoughts/anyone else considering this? I think the swap could/should work... oh man I can't wait.
 
You will not be the first person to buy a knife for either the blade or the handle scales. Yep the 943 blade and 940 frame are inter-changeable and a bunch of us have swapped theirs out to make the better and more personal knife. And the Axis design makes the process easy with practice.

You would be selling the S90V/black aluminum handle Frankenstein 940, right? Sure that would go fast to someone wanting the S90V. I will be pleased with the standard 940-1 as advertised.

Yes, I would plan sell the black aluminum... because that would of course help justify the new purchase...

But aw, crap, I know myself... I'd probably wind up keeping both. In my view, the black aluminum would make a great user/abuser (to test that s90v steal out!). And I could keep the CF handle "943-1" all nice n' pretty, ready for a night on the town. :)
