Charlow Barlow History

Dean, I think it was only the third cut stag models that had the Recycling label. I'll check when I get home later.

Philllll was correct in his thinking.

Only the third cut stag had the "Recycling" label and the remaining spearpoints with nail nicks from that run had the "Shoe Polish" label.

I went back through all of the tube desciptions this morning and the remainder of the tube descriptions appear correct on the list. I revised/updated that part of the list to reflect the needed correction.

Sorry about any confusion Dean ! :)

Primble, thanks for your effort in putting the whole list together with the descriptions, quantities, etc. It is invaluable to a newbie TC Barlow collector like myself.

I had one other question. On the same 2014 spearpoint Genuine Barlow run, you show the two blades without an EC in the number and the single blade with an EC. Am I correct in my assumption that the EC stands for End Cap?

Dean,

The EC designation was pulled directly from the GEC production totals list. I double checked it just now and that is the way they listed that run for the singles and doubles. On my single spear with nail nick tube, their is only an "E" below the model number, but, only on the tube. The tang is stamped 152114 only.

GEC also lists the Radio Jack and Washington Jacks with EC designations in the model numbers from 2014. Possibly Charlie or Barry might recall what the EC designation stands for. :)

You are welcome Dean.

I suspect that it was a typo in their list and the EC most likely designates end cap models, which the Radio Jack and Washington Jacks do have and they are labeled EC.

"A New Day"

Released in late June of 2015, "A New Day" was produced in a single blade spey long pull blade and a spey long pull main with pen behind main blade.

Handle materials were African Blackwood, Copperhead Pick Bone, and Evergreen Pick Bone.

There was a theme of green eggs and ham for this run. 👍:D

This was a first with the full color label and it turned out fantastic. The artwork was phenomenal and included green eggs in the bucket, a little piggy and a chicken in the foreground, and it appears Tom and Huck were enjoying their morning coffee. Let the big rooster crow ! :D:D:

*** I will be watching the Barlow thread for some additional pictures to add here of the African Blackwood and Evergreen editions.

*** Will update the production totals when available.

*** Currently the GEC production totals show the green as Antique Green Pick Bone, however, the tubes were labeled Evergreen Pick Bone. ;):)

A nice example of the pen behind main "A New Day" in African Blackwood.

This was posted by Paul Hilborn in the TC thread and it was gifted to him by Duncan. Shenanigans were involved.

I took some liberties. ;):D:D:D

I had this discussion this morning with a particular fellow - that this lot of "Peach-Seed" Bone is by far the closest and imo now the equal to Schrades Peach Seed - I do know this is a bold statement - but I also believe to be correct - this to me is extremely exciting stuff.
Also part of this morning conversation was the Boundary's that Charlie pushes for these patterns to be created- and there are a lot of changes that go on with each knife - so Bill @ GEC, and then steps in and does his side of things absolutely wonderfully, and last but not least another point that was put to me was that the knives are in fact Flawless ( was the word that was used by this Gentleman ) - and I agree, such massive value for such a knife to ALL parties involved- the appreciation is immense.

I'm in total agreement with that Duncan. I don't know how Charlie and GEC does it, but I hope they keep doing what they do.

I don't have one of the new barlows in hand yet, but I can't wait to put it side-by-side with some old Schrade peachseed!
