Hey! :D

Just finishing some coffee here, debating work or rest... still have some sort of cold so maybe a half day, lol

I glued up 6 knives last night, I think this was my first time to use pins/no tube! same with hidden pins too, I used a few

I'm using micarta pins along with some stainless, the micarta really glues up like nothing else.

A hidden pin is like most but does not go all the way through the scales. They are tougher to do on my end but very strong and look cool! (you can't even see them! lol)

I think you guys will be liking the new style! Clean...

By the way I won't be dropping the flared tube, the pins are mostly for kitchen knives and that sort of thing.

Morning y'all!

Id like to introduce the latest addition to my family. This is Weber.

He's about 6-7 months old, curly haired and very mild mannerd. Don't have a clue what he is mixed with, but he is very sweet. We brought him home yesterday to try out a night to see how he does with Radar and in the house. Turns out that the only issue between the dogs is Weber, Radar has zero aggression of any kind towards him. Weber though growled and snapped at Radar a couple times, but I'm slowly working with him to understand his place in my family. I think he will fit right in.

Make it a good day y'all!

Finally, the official start of the fall season . . . . Go Dolphins . . . .
Daniel, I have been wondering about something and the only way to understand is to ask. Why do some fixed blades come with "tubes" and some don't? I noticed you mentioned this a few posts up and it jogged my memory to ask. Being relatively new to the knife world, I have always found the tube to be something I would want on every knife I have.
Is this just a personal preferrence of the user, or are there + / -'s for both ways?
Just an old gun guy trying to get a little wiser in the knife world . . . . :)
Thanks for your help.
Be safe.

Xander, looks like definitely some terrier in there with some collie.. That's my guess.. Perhaps silky haired terrier... I'm not dog professional, but I've had my share of dogs and learned about breeds back in the day..

We keep toying with the idea of another dog.. something to keep our beast in check and to provide outdoor company... we'll see.. it will be a rescue, and less than 60lbs when full size.. our beast is 100lbs and eats and craps like no other!

Love that look Weber's got : "Well, here I am . . . now what ?" :)
Sloth, what breed of "beast" do you have ??? Most definitely sounds like my type of companion . . . .
Be safe.

My best educated guess is Shelty and Poodle mix, with something else thrown on for the brindle coloring. His hair is like human hair, single coat doesn't shed much at all. Fairly thick stems with proper stance, so dauschund is out. He's only about 12lbs. In profile, the shape of his head is very much like a shelty, no real pronounced stop, ears set squarely on the corners, also a fairly narrow face.

His gait is lively and delicate, much like a poodle. He has a couple funny quirks, when he sits he actually kneels on one knee! I didn't notice at first, but when I saw one foot sticking out behind him I took a second look, its just too funny! Also, he's a beggar. That is one habbit I do not tolerate. Radar has learned, and so will Weber. But, he plays "cute dog" when begging, he sits up and puts his paws up with the sad puppy eyes. Workin it real hard.

I've had many different dogs over the years, and Radar (now Weber as well) is the first mixed breed I have ever owned. Always had papered pure blood lines. So I know a lot of standards for breeds. Now I worry less about genetics and instinct and focus more on personality. In a week, I'll really have an idea of how he is after he settles in.

tube hardware - so far if it has scales it has had the tubes, they are a great way to attach the scales along with epoxy to seal and for backup...

I'm doing the occasional pin now or only pins to mix it up... it is a traditional look on the kitchen knives and in this batch I'm doing all of them for something different/looks/practice

Hey guys! just in from the mountain, we went for a hike!

Sounds great, Daniel! Nothin' like fresh air. I opted in today; Football games and housework. Had to be done, yo.

See anything interesting while out?

A coyote, porcini and coral mushrooms, 2 low water crossings and one section of road that was so nuts I wasn't sure of I was still on it, lol! I was trying to find a ghost town/mining operation but the road really got bad... foot tall granite boulders and such.

Google Engineer Mountain... Durango Mountain Resort... that was the area, the road between those spots. I wish I got pics!

Wow what a great weekend. Went to a friends camp on the lake. Had a cook out with T-bone steaks and then because I do not drink spent up till 11 PM riding them around on the pontoon boat. Was nice getting out of the house. momma drank almost a 5th of Captain Morgan silver while we were out there.
