Afternoon fellas.

Had an aggravating oh sh!t moment in the shop this morning when installing my barrel. Get my bench cleared, parts, tools, lubes, guages, etc all laid out. Mount my receiver in the vise blocks, test fit everything and the bed the barrel with loctite. Get my handguard parts and barrel nut prepped, threads lubed, parts assembled and slip them over the barrel and get to the gas block journal and it stops. The nut doesn't fit over the barrel! Grab the calipers, measure the barrel 1.005", then the nut 1.000". Crap. Jump online, get the phone number and call the dealer I bought the barrel from, them: "ok, why would a milspec barrel nut fit over a bull barrel, there's nothing milspec about it." So that was no help. Call my gunsmith, he tells me to bring it in, he decides that cutting the flange on the minor inside diameter of the nut is ok and he'll do it. 10 minutes later he has it done and I am very relieved! Never occurred to me that a milspec barrel nut won't fit over a barrel designed to go in a milspec receiver.

Just glad I didn't have to pull the barrel and try to clean the bedding off or have to buy another barrel nut and handguard.

So, now I'm here at work just trying to make it a decent day. Lots to do, but that's ok, I'm off tomorrow :D

Cheers!

Almost done! The one damn allen key I need to pull the scope from my other rifle is missing and the gas block I ordered is on backorder.

Time to clean the yard up!

Oooh ... pretty for a lego gun. Nice work Xander.

My RS1's arrived unexpectedly a day early. They are so damn smooth. All the unnecessary harshness in the top end the Grado 225 and 325 suffer from is ameliorated, and what's left is a very well balanced, fast, immediate sounding headphone. Perfect for jazz, rock and punk. (I liken the sound of these to being in a 50-100 person jazz club, as opposed to a concert hall - like you are on stage with the performers).

Now maybe I can refocus my efforts and pocketbook on things that matter - like knifes. :D What you got coming up D? Any more ironwood kwaikens? :D

Thanks Liam. I got the scope on it now, my dad had the right size key to take it off my other gun. It's a heavy SOB, but I knew it was going to be and don't really care, just makes it recoil less.

Morning gents! Latcho divvus.

Woke up to 50 degrees, and the anticipated high of only 62 for the next 4 days... quite a drop from the 80s we've enjoyed up until yesterday.

[ned stark]Winter is Coming[/ned stark]

Guess the timing is good, our AC died on us - just in time to not need it. :D

Enjoy the day!

Hey guys!

we have trees turning yellow here...

Xander that is looking really good! Nice work.

Liamstrain, the headphones sound great! I hear you :D on the not so flat sound... I listen to mostly monitor speakers and sometimes they are hard on the ears after a while.

I'm all over the place with Chef's knives and Rigging knives in the works today. I need to sign them and lay up some laminated scales then I'm on to some RF2's that are close. I have a Deba/modded hollow grind and 2 Pettys in AEBL and 52100. Yesterday I had a wacky idea for a Kamisori inspired veggie peeler/kitchen utility and started two of them in AEBL.

Lenox hacksaw blade, $8 hacksaw, $12 vise... 5" of .100" 52100 cut in half by hand in about a minute. Bandsaw... wha! :D

Morning men.

Thanx Daniel!

Today my boy turns 5 years old! Funny, I've been noticing more and more gray hair lately too!

Winter? That's like, after thanksgiving. My general rule is get any and all major outdoor projects done by Oct.15 because that's when it gets to be the rainy season. Still not cold yet, but wet.

Make it great!

Hold one of those Petty's for me? Especially if you've got some good wood to throw on them (Ironwood?) :D

I'll get some quick pics... one is my original pattern and the other is slimmer. Both are hollow ground to a near zero edge. Satin finish. I do have a nice stash of Ironwood. :D

I'm doing canvas micarta on one or two of them also, will blast the micarta for max grip.

They are my Working Line of kitchen knives, I have been listening to feedback from Pro Chefs and they want Micarta along with the wood selection. Ironwood sounds great!

Tell your son we said Happy Birthday!

The seasons seem to change here officially, lol. It won't be Winter(ish) until late November but we have a lot to do!

Latcho divvus. Going to be a crazy day today... two AD's out sick, so I'm working on 3 ad campaigns at the same time.

Probably shouldn't be on here, but I can't help myself. :D

What's up D!

Liam, keep that pencil sharp! Art Directors are a flakey bunch... :D :p

Kev, that's a personal question and none of your business. :p 43" Stem to stern.
