Knife: cut stuff. Pry bar: pry stuff.

It ain't rocket science, Einstein.

Decent pry bar- $20
Decent knife with S30V- $75
Decent knife with S30V used as a pry bar- $0

somehow, i think he has alot of time now to contemplate what other steels would make crappy prybars...the di'kut

Read the first posts in this thread and compare it to what we now know about the CTD knife. Kind of makes you laugh.

I always like when someone that doesnt know what they are talking about tries to sound like they know what they are talking about by saying they ________ with _________ yesterday.

Definitely a pattern.

Has anyone had the nerve to buy one of these? My son bought one to carry back of the seat in his truck. I haven't seen it yet but he says he's cut wood, hammered with the back, opened crates, ect. and it's still in decent shape.
Wouldn't your son be better off with a hatchet and a prybar in his truck?

That's what I have in mine, only the hatchet is actually a Fiskar's axe.

Even better off with a spare tire. If you must limit yourself to one thing. ;)

I don't waste my money on junk.I would rather buy quality.I use knives to cut not hammer.

It appears you haven't bothered to view the test, let alone compare it with the others tested.

I don't want to share my views on why I won't buy Chinese crap because it doesn't belong in this forum but i won't buy a Chinese wrench or socket either and being a knifenut I just won't buy crap and in my opinion that is what they are, crap.:barf:

IOW, you haven't seen the test. Maybe you're scared to see it. Because your opinion bears no resemblance to the results of Noss' tests.

You can have an opinion. But I'm not sure what value it has to the thread when it seems contradicted by the results. You say you don't want to share your views, but you already have. It appears that is the only reason you bothered posting in this thread. So you won't begrudge me pointing out that your views appear willingly uninformed, prejudicial, and pointless in context.

There are many types of metal that have great toughness that you could sharpen and they would excel at the test, but they sure would not make a great knife. Keep in mind his tests only focus on toughness... There are many more aspects to a good knife.

I watch these tests for their entertainment value but that's about it.

You are correct watch the movie and you will see him shoot left handed but manipulate the bolt with his right hand.
At the bottom of the picture is the S&W knife that has been copied and sold by CTD. The S&W knives are worth the money and come wih a diamond sharpening stone.

I'm guessing your reasons are political, and that's fine, if that's the case. However, to continue to deny that these can be perfectly serviceable heavy duty knives after seeing/hearing about others' experiences with them is evidence of an extreme case of denial. Are there better knives around? I'd certainly say there are. But for $10, these seem like quite a deal. The only thing that may be described as crap might be the sheaths, from what others have said. Big deal. Throw some kydex in the press and make your own, or just make a cardboard/duct tape blade cover and toss her in the toolbox. ;)
