Well you know........rec.knives came first as it was one of the first if not the first forum discussing knives and bladeforums went ahead and copied it to a certain extent so yeah you're on website that copied another forum.

You are treading on thin ice.

It is the formal position of BladeForums, that clones hurt the hobby.
https://www.bladeforums.com/help/exchange-rules/

Fakes/Homages-
As fakes and homage items are a legal gray area and obviously hurt the hobby, no fake or homage items may be sold on the Exchange. Members may not knowingly sell unlicensed knockoffs or counterfeit versions of knives (or any other goods) based upon the designs of their legitimate owner, manufacturer or custom maker. Additionally, members may not sell any knife or item known or suspected to be other than as described in terms of its lineage and authenticity.

I'm not selling anything nor will I sell any knife on here?

First part of the rule says clones, "obviously hurt the hobby"
That's to address your previous arguments that they don't.

As for BF "cloning" rec knives, that's like saying a Case trapper is a clone of a flint knife. They both do the same thing, but bear no resemblance in form. "Clones" are not items which perform the same function.

I don't knowingly buy knock off products, but who can keep track of every little thing?
What I do know for certain though, is that I will not support any cloning company once I know who they are and what they're doing.
What about companies that used to make clones? Do you support them?

...I am sure somewhere on the net there is a poor copy of this site where you can go and celebrate theft, clones, copies, homages, and counterfeits with your head held high.

Nobody here is trying to “celebrate” anything. Especially theft, counterfeits, clones, copies, or homages.

If it's done in a "completely legal fashion", then there is no moral objection.

So, if Acme Knife Company produces a knife with a US patent and another company makes clones for sale outside of the US (where it is legal to do so) you have no moral objection?

Sure it is. We both know it.

However we both have our minds made up and no amount of arguing back and forth will change them.
No it is not. Read his statement again and see if you want to be foolish enough to defend it. Go read it again.

These threads are full stupid as is, it doesn't help when people make stuff up and then other folks defend said made up stuff. Makes me feel dumber for even having to address this bull snot.

I strongly disagree. Posters like this current one first seek to normalize theft and then to celebrate it.

You can create all the what if fallacy scenarios you like but won't change. The companies like Ganzo that copy knives are bad actors in more ways than one and they constantly pressing their shills to try and influence the world at large that their business method of outright theft isn't so bad and they should be given a pass. All the time while they press for a blessing they continue to produce and sell the fakes.

We can and will cast stones at them any chance we get.

Cloner Fan to BlAde Forums Member

Cloner Fan: Do you like Sandwiches?
BAMF: Sure do!
Cloner Fan: Do you make them at home?
BAMF: You bet!
Cloner Fan: Well then; you're worse than the Ganzo Knife Co if that's the case.
BAMF: Excuse me?!
Cloner Fan: Well did you invent the sandwich?
BAMF: No of course not. What kind of a question is that.
Cloner Fan: Well if you didn't invent the Sandwich then making your own is theft.
BAMF: No it isn't. Are you joking it's weeks till April 1.
Cloner Fan: You sir are a thief. You are stealing from the Sandwich Artists at Subway. Every bite is a dagger in their hearts.
BAMF:,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I am not defending him or anyone else. And I did go back and read his comment. There are a lot of forum members that feel as he does.

Beyond that, unfortunately, you and I disagree on many aspects of the clone and copy issue. Which is a shame really. I find your wisdom and insight on other topics very interesting and thought provoking.

It is sad that these “discussions” even come up at all. Says a lot about today’s state of affairs and the moral decay of society.

That's just great and all but....

He said something that is blatantly false. I called him on it. You claimed he was right and also claimed that I knew he was right. Now I'm calling you on that. Instead of address the issue you type a bunch of unrelated stuff. SMH.

I don’t have a problem if you cast stones at Ganzo. Please do.

My problem is when stones are cast at forum members. I have lost count how many times the character and morals of individual members come under attack in these type of threads

As for the OP... I personally don’t see how your opinion applies in this case.

My point was that there is no "completely legal fashion" to steal IP. At least there shouldn't be.

He stated an opinion and you called him on it. Fine. Call as many people as you want. It is all opinions anyhow. You can’t prove he is wrong anymore than he or I can prove you incorrect.

As for American companies getting a pass, all you have to do is look at the evidence.

For one example off the top of my head, Kershaw’s Echelon is effectively a copy of Strider’s SJ-75. It was an in house design according to Kershaw. Everyone here gave it a pass.

Don’t bother to respond back. No matter how much I write, I won’t change your mind. You and I could banter back and forth for the next six months and our positions would be unchanged.

I believe American companies who make copies should get a pass. The problem is the Chinese who copy, and they should NOT get a pass
