Also understand that we have zero control over the morals and choices of other BF.com members. Something that many members do not realize. Or if they do, you can’t tell it from their comments or actions.
If someone wants to come here and talk about how great their Ganzo clones are, they are either trolling or they don't know any better, but they are free to take that conversation somewhere else.

Clones and fakes are made by retards and criminals like so report them and do not buy them!

It takes a special kind of stupid to believe these clones are some kind of a bargain.

are soon parted”

Here's the thing though, we don't give a #$!@& about toasters on this forum. We are not passionate about toasters. We are passionate about our hobby which is knives and this is a forum for people that are passionate about knives. We don't "hang out" here to listen to people sing the praises of companies that are hurting our hobby.

It's not hurting the hobby, you wouldn't have Benchmade if it wasn't for "Cloning". Benchmade started out making Balisong's in the beginning and they directly ripped-off designs just look up early Balisongs and you can see Benchmade just took the design and tweaked it so if you have given them a cent and I mean one penny you gave a company that was known to rip off knives even if it was 30+ years ago. PRINCIPLE.

Every company except the smaller manufactures or custom knives can date back to their first knives looking like a clone of something else as that's usually the inspiration that makes them start, they have a knife and say "I can make this better" so they try and do that by essentially cloning it and using better steel etc, as it usually progresses they start making their own designs.

Has every company ripped off designs well of course not but have all the large ones???? Yes, and if you have a single knife from one of those companies I'd say you're a hypocrite because if you say Ganzo is hurting the hobby well you gave money to a company that did it 30 years ago what's the difference?

The balisong knife was never a patented design. Try again, if you must.

Edit: I shouldn't say that, it most likely was patented by someone, like 80 years ago, but the patent had expired long before Benchmade started making them.

Ya, okay. You want me to get the point by using a flawed argument?
It went over your head the second you put "we don't give yadda yadda about toasters"

If you're not willing to compromise that you in your daily life depend on stolen-knock-off-cloned goods yet somehow think "your hobby" supersedes that...... well it proves my point quite clearly.

It's fine that you hate ganzo or clone companies as it's a free forum.

Can you elaborate on what part of that individual's daily life "depend on stolen-knock-off-cloned goods"?

My hobby does supersede that here.
I do my best not to buy junk, no matter where its made and it is difficult to find products that are not made in hell hole sweat shops sometimes, but thankfully I do have that choice when it comes to knives. If these rip off companies had their way, we would not have that choice.

You are free to giddily buy up all the clones you want to, just don't be surprised when most people here don't want to discuss, in a positive way, how many fakes you bought at such a great price.

Computer components, car components, hell just look at stolen ideas throughout history such as the television, the phone, the radio all came from one person to only be stolen and patented by another person.

Now you can chalk that up to "It wasn't patented therefore it doesn't count" Sure it does everyone knows Bill Gates stole Steve Job's technology it's just a random fact but that never stopped you from using Microsoft now did it?

I look at it vaguely does Ganzo clone knives yes, well are they good knives? To some they are just fine to some they are junk so to each their own.

I'm not going to chastise someone who buys a clone because a piece of paper that says a company has the patent rights to a design yet "ripped off" "spun" "cloned" some other knife from another company years before or continue to do so by tweaking it just a little to skirt the patent law.

I'm not regarding this on the counterfeit ones as I feel totally different on that subject if they are stealing the logo/box/intellectual property and claiming it to be what it isn't well I have a problem with that but I'm not the knife police as I stated I would never buy one.

I have a couple of Ganzo knives that I throw in the bag when I camp as they are beater knives but that's about it.

I have an Enlan that I believe is an original design that I absolutely love and cherish and it was a whopping 5 bucks it's the perfect whittler knife but would I keep it over my CRK or Boo's well of course not.

If you don't have a positive light on those companies that's cool, the op was looking for knife discussion on the counterfeits which I would say don't buy.

I just find it redundant on all of the hypocrisy when it's not ok to buy a "clone/copy" knife when people are sitting on their chinese tablet or laptop typing that it's not ok to buy a "clone/copy" knife.

I would wager that most of the members here do not buy clone computers or phones etc. and try their best to purchase genuine products. Otherwise, then yes, that would be hypocritical to hold certain knife cloning companies in contempt and not hold that same contempt for an Apple iphone cloning company.

Come again? Several of you examples were subject to IP court battles where the original thinker was granted royalties/recognition.

None of them are like the subject at hand though and none are really something one's "life depends on".

Have no fear. I am sure somewhere on the net there is a poor copy of this site where you can go and celebrate theft, clones, copies, homages, and counterfeits with your head held high.

I would hope most people on here buy American made genuine products as well but that's not feasible when it comes to every single day items like cell-phones and computer components and car parts etc the manufacturing industry is just not producing here in America which is sad.

Samsung, Apple, LG etc you buy that third party cell phone charger well that's just a knock off how about a water filter for your fridge, unless you buy oem products which are too damn expensive on fridges well you're just buying a knock off when you go to a different company.

It's the little things.

Hell even Apple has been called out for stealing features from Samsung.

I don't knowingly buy knock off products, but who can keep track of every little thing?
What I do know for certain though, is that I will not support any cloning company once I know who they are and what they're doing.
