That knife HAD to sell for at least $700 - $800 from Butch.

It has on the inside of the scale B 09Sounds about right. Conversions don't come cheap.
Judging by the condition and the amount it must have been pawned for given the selling price, I can only assume that it must have been "lost" by somebody. Could have been stolen, could have been lost and then found, maybe it was passed down or sold at estate, but whoever pawned it clearly had no idea of its value and neither did the pawn shop.
Since it's not serial numbered there's no real way to figure out a chain of ownership. Guessing the shop didn't know knives and couldn't look it up because it doesn't have a model or manufacturer written on it.
Crazy deal.

Man some people in this thread are real downers, I think the knife looks sweet. Congrats OP!
Why? Because someone dared to express their opinion that they didn't like it or said that it was ugly? Oh, please.
I am glad that the OP likes it. It isn't my cup of tea either.
Exactly what I was thinking Aaron......original owner prob lost it and some skell picked it up.
I'll also bet the seller, or the pawn shop, knew it was an auto. The OP didn't even know.
Also, how many people would recognize a Zaan??
Pawn shop dude should've called one of his buddies!! Pawn Star reference!!

Hard to believe it was lost if it came with the custom case though. Like others said, its most likely "lost" or from an estate.
This pawn shop does not know how to price their knives right
