Christmas knives

Probably no knife for me but I don't know for sure yet.

I give my family my very specific wish list along with Internet links so there is no guesswork for them. This year I did ask for a Fenix PD22. Last year I received a Spyderco Gayle Bradley.

I considered asking for a knife but what I really want is the cru wear military that is still on preorder, but I'm suspicious that I'm out of luck on that one. My other wish is for the Manix 2 XL S90V but I'm trying to decide if I would be as well off with the all black Manix 2 XL instead, for 1/3 the price.

No knife for me, I'm content with what I have (for now). I did welcome my youngest sons fiance into the family with the gift of a Delica 4.

I got an ESEE 6 with blue and black G10 handles, a Boker Plus Rambler, and an Estwing hatchet.

I also got a 4Sevens 360 tactical light, and gave two Fenix PD35s.

I got a Benchmade 730-1303 LE Ares!

I also gave a Buck Vantage Select to my father!

Nice gift. Welcome to the family. You're getting a knife whether you like it or not. :p

It's almost kinda silly all you guys saying "I bought this for myself." Give something to someone ELSE, not yourself for christmas! Goodness.

I made my dad a pair of scales for his swiss army knife.

My brother gave me a Spyderco Dragonfly H1, nothing special but I'm happy with it. :)

I'm fairly certain the people in this thread bought gifts for other people, there may even be people here that don't have anyone to give them gifts? So I think it's ok they buy themselves a knife don't you?

And then the gift from your brother? You say it's "nothing special" really? I'd think it'd be very special coming from your brother no matter what knife it was.

Just sayin ;)

Well said.
I've given plenty and I'm sure others did too.
Besides OP's intent of this topic was :
"if anyone has received any knives as Christmas gifts, or suspect that that present under the tree, with YOUR name on it, contains a knife"

I'd rather ask them what they want or need than buy something that will only see the light of day today. My father didn't want a knife so I got him a sweater he wanted, and reliable nose hair clipper. :D

I bought myself a Southard for Christmas.

True I suppose.

Sorry it's not "nothing special," but more like nothing super expensive. I meant that it doesn't have to be super nice or expensive for me to appreciate it. I do appreciate it, and I know I'll enjoy it! I'm sure there are plenty of others around here that would feel the same. :)

Sent my wife a list of knives I was interested in as "ideas". Figured she might have one under the tree....I was wrong.

Speechless and feeling more than a little glutinous. I think there may be some here who can appreciate and understand.

Thanks Paul, very well said.

I also got the Fenix PD22 on Monday and I really like it so far. The Fenix interface switch is very nice to boot. Allows you to effortlessly go from one setting to another with only the push of a switch. A couple months ago I got a Fenix PD32, runs on 2 X CR123A's, and it has the same switch. But the 22 is easier to carry as it only runs on a single CR123A, and the smaller sheath that comes with it also helps with the ease of carry. Hope you get one, if you do, let me/us know what you think of it.

My friends and family think im crazy for buying so many knives (probably right) so the chances are slim I would get one from them. They have no clue what I would want anyway. Knowing that I treated myself to a Lionsteel SR-1A in red/satin after enjoying my Ti version so much.

Got blades two for Christmas. My Mother got me a Benchmade Nimravus (with the coyote handle) and the wife got me a Spyderco Dragonfly Salt.

To summarize the knowledge of my family and friends concerning flashlights and knives:
- Flashlights use Batteries to make (somewhat focused) light
- Knives have a handle, an edged blade, and are used to cut stuff (mostly food)

So I just asked for small things and/or money, and using said money (and some of my own) treated myself a Fenix PD-35, a ZT 0350-SW and a Spyderco PPT (used one) :D

Edit: Almost forgot:
Gave a nice Solarforce Z1 to my mom, she really loves it ;)
