Beer is good!
Rainier is my go to cheap beer.

I'm actually in Columbus, OH right now on business and have got to sample in earnest quite a few of the locally made libations.
The craft and micro movement in the US really is a thing of beauty.
I seem to gravitate more towards pales and IPA's. Although I can't stand the "way too hoppy" IPA's.

Let's have a moment and thank all the breweries.
I have the idea Stella Artois is getting quite popular in the States? About time too. Very, very good mass produced lager. It's my low alcoholic % beer of choice. More fond of dark Trappist and Triple beers, but they're more degustative, whereas the lager is great for thirst. And it creates more thirst. So that's a fun vicious cycle.

I prefer Modelo Especial over Rainier (PBR, Budweiser too), I am a disgrace to my state.

Maybe not the whole state...
But yeah, at least to your friends and close acquaintances. Lol! :D
A toast to KingMC!!

Rainier is still good, but Especial tastes crisper and lighter to me, which is a plus when I want a beer to drink many cans at a time.

Yes, thanks to all the breweries...especially the ones run by clergy!

Stella is also a favorite, especially as we near Christmas. They really start advertising it then. Also the military Post Exchange usually has a special in November or December where you get a free Stella chalice with a six-pack of bottles. I think I've got about 12 or so of them...or maybe 16... :D

Edit: it should be noted that I accumulated all the chalices over several years.

I have one of those stella chalices with my name etched in from last year. Pretty cool.

Stella advertises here in the US like all the other major American beers: They sell you their beer based on how long they've been making it and how they got started, they ignore the current state of their beer in favor of reminding you that they were once a special beer.

Take Olympia beer, for example: the can says oldest beer in Washington (1896) and their slogan is 'it's the water' as the reason their beer is special. What they fail to mention is they got sold to Pabst in the '80s and the beer is brewed in Wisconsin, which makes their slogan a bit outdated since Olympia beer is now brewed with the same water as PBR, and tastes similar.

Heineken and Modelo seem to sell their beer in the present and don't dwell on the past, I respect that when it comes to advertising.

At least Stella doesn't market itself based on its temperature.
It's been a staple in the US for at least a decade, particularly in places that don't serve Budweiser.

Good luck in the new job, GSOM! When do you find out if you get the position?
Feeling a bit tired this morning. Stayed up all night following the election. Now I need more coffee.

Why did you stay up all night? I mean, you're in North America, not 'Murica!.......you don't even HAVE a president. Unless it was just an excuse to stock up at the Brewer's Retail and enjoy the show - in which case I....don't know what to say. I hope you had some good beer.

Don't know when I'll find out - waiting forthe offer letter/email to show up in my inbox. Already filled out the application.

Good luck GSOM!
Open question to my American friends: will I be needing a bomb shelter :D? All in good fun guys ;)

Lucky for you, I don't think he even knows where Belgium is. Plus, with you guys hiding behind France, it'll make it even harder to find.

I prefer Modelo Especial over Rainier (PBR, Budweiser too), I am a disgrace to my state.

You are a disgrace to beer lovers, period ;). Modelo is taking over American beer making jobs ;). OK, I take that back.....you can enjoy whatever you like - as long as you never again refer to PBR as beer.
Hell, Bud is made with rice - which I find TOTALLY un-American. Exhibit A: Kirin Ichiban - made with rice, in Japan. Perfect with sushi....but still, Japanese quasi-beer. Rice, FYI, is NOT on the list of things that go into beer. Quite sure the Czech Pilsener recipe (what Bud purports to be...) doesn't include rice. Would whiskey or Scotch be OK with rice added to boost the alcohol content? Prolly not. Still, I will defend your right to drink anything you want. I even have one friend who, *gasp*, doesn't like beer at all, in ANY form, and we're still good friends.

^^^^So nobody gets their knickers in a twist, this is my attempt at humor. I love beer, but I give no f^*{s what swill people want to pour down their gullets.....trailbum knows what I'm talking about. And daizee: thank you. I've finally enjoyed the last of the fine selection you left at the Gathering. Ginga Ninja and Tendril, oh my. Good stuff!

I like beer.

This guy gets it....I only wish beer would like me back.

I always thought Olympia was special for being $8/case!

But then again, Heineken is basically water and tastes like crap. So they're correctly so being humble in their advertising. Lol.

I resemble that remark. :D I just hope I'm the friend.:eek: Although I DO like meads, hard ciders and non-beer ales.

"But then again, Heineken is basically water"

right, but that's what Stella uses as water ;)

Well, here in Belgium there's this drawing of the horse of the Palm beer logo, that obviously drinks Palm beer (a nice, amber colored beer) and it simultaneously pees in a beer keg with the Heineken label on it. Pretty accurate.

Edit: Just Google image search: "palm heineken paard"
Since this is a family friendly forum :D

Someone may, or may not have just listed something nicely BK2 related at the flea bay market. May have, the world just may never know.. Happens all the time

Could have blue handles and be about 3 pages down in results
