I have the Husqy limbing saw - the smallest pro model, XP-something. Lurve it. But also haven't loved it actively in awhile now, and it's going to need all the cleanings.

when i said Husky 40, i was referring to their new battery model, in particular, the center handle model designed for arborists. there's a "super thin" bar/chain combo which makes it "the bomb" for other duties, like trimming shrubs, and even cutting wood for the shop, making fence posts, and stuff.

"it's on my list" :D

unfortunately, buying a new computer is going to impact my list abit until such time i get my bonus, tax return, and hopefully some money back for my braces ;)

Anyone know when Ethan will announce the dates for the spring gathering? I'd like to make it down there for once.

planning will probably start in late Feb -- but yes, you would enjoy the folks that show up to one of these.
alternatively, if you know of a decent location in SW or central Mo, we might be able to have a mid-continent Beckerhead gathering......

Sweet,

There have been some good meets at Pine Ridge campground. It's a part of Mark Twain National Forrest. Between Jefferson City and Columbia Missouri. That would be a great location that can fit a lot of people.

I don't live mid-continent....but this should happen. Gatherings are a blast - and a way to make real friends out of "internet" friends. There is nothing better, IMO, than meeting and camping with folks from this sub-forum. Something about this group....ANYONE who's ever taken a chance and attended a Gathering has, without fail, enjoyed it and come away with new friends. I remember my first - and trailbum thanking me, saying something like "I know we tell our kids never to go and meet (in real life) someone you know from the internet, but...I'm glad you came....". My girls had fun, I had fun (and came away with a BK5 - thank you, Ka-Bar and Uncle E.!) and I honestly couldn't wait until the next one. Be nice to see some more regional get-togethers so that folks who aren't convenient to the PNW, Northeast or Ethan's place in TN can enjoy what those of us lucky enough to be near those places already know: Beckerheads (and anyone willing to travel to a Gathering) are some of the finest people (.....or at least friendly and fun to hang with) you'll find.

Great. Now I'm thinking about spring and getting together with the Northeast folks.....

I ended up replacing 4 batteries and the ground cable to the frame last Wednesday morning on the semi. We had to do it outside in a blizzard. We ended up arcing a wire and blew some fuses that we weren't able to find because the underside of the truck was stuffed with snow from driving in that crap Tuesday morning. We had to push it in the shop to let it thaw out for a day. I was off Thursday and Friday, so I never got to start it in the cold and last night it was already running for me. Finally got to start it in the -10 cold and it cranked over like it was summertime. Pretty happy about that it was barely turning over on Wednesday morning.

My favorite pen in the world!!

Apparently one can purchase them on the interwebs now. I've been begging for them from friends in the know for a while because my supply was running low.

Nick broke snark!
Re-igniting at 4:20.

Does anyone here have experience hunting coyotes? Any tips, tricks?

Also, anyone have experience with Badlands packs?

Jeremy

I used a remote control call with good success. Mouth blown calls work great with some practice. In thick stuff I use a Mossberg cannon with a "Dead Coyote" choke tube and three inch buck loads. Cornfields are rifle fun.

Coyote hunting is a heck of an adrenaline rush. I also have had good luck using a remote call. Cottontail distress seems to work the best for me. I have a mouth call but am not very good with it yet.

ETA: I use a H&R .223 if I am specifically after coyotes, but a 12 gauge slug will also do the trick (mostly during deer season).

I foolishly sold my BK9 August of 15, just received word the guy that bought
It from me will sell it back. I'm pretty excited to get it back. Just felt like I should share my happiness.
