i was browsing around old trade threads recently and someone mentioned "snody knives" so i went to the website which is apperently named "snodyworld" and i couldent realy find out what the hell the person in the picture did for a living. can someone please explain to me A: who the hell came up with his website. B: does he even make knives? and C: general explenation? i wouldent buy a knife from this person just because of the layout of his website. is he giving out bail bonds for the people who buy his knives that he may or may not make? and can someone please tell me why everything on his website emulates a kind of "ghetto" theme?

edit: im not insulting mike or his knives, just asking about the website. when i asked the question it was because i had never heard of him before. so please, stop trolling. and if your going to actualy voice your opinion, please read through what everyone, including myself, have said throughout the life of this post.

Lol, from what I understand yes he does really make knives. Well made ones too. I don't know whats up with the ghetto/gangsta/pimp/what have you theme; but from what I've seen here he seems like a generally nice dude. I was meaning to pick up one of his $99 Boss specials but things are tight right now.

I have 2 of his knives... A fixed blade and a folder, and both are fantastic. Well made, fit & finish are great, and they are sharp as heck. The man knows how to make 'em and he knows how to market 'em :)

He has been around a while. You're right though, that website is awful...looks like a site for some get-rich-quick guy from late night tv.

I think he just has an odd sense of humor. I think it bothers a lot of people, but he is apparently selling his knives faster then he can make them, so he can probably afford to lose the business.

I met him recently at the USN knife show in Vegas, he really stood out as one of the nicer folks there. One of the few makers there that greeted me with a handshake.

I am pretty sure also that "the website" is genuine, and more than likely his "style" also.

i have talked to mike numerous times and he has always been polite and a nice guy to talk to. give him a call sometime and talk to him. i'm sure you will change your mind.

He's very respectful here on BF from the posts I've seen and I don't think I've ever heard any bad remarks about him. He is highly skilled in knife making which shows in his work I just don't get the marketing style. The whole getto fabulous thing is not my style but to each his own.

He has a forum here if you would like to check it out. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/836-SnodyLand

It's called showmanship.

Kinda like how Jerry Busse ends all his threads on here w/ "Let's Drink" and uses big bold fonts.

Never met Snody but his interactions on here that I've read show him to be a standup guy.

Sure is website is a little "Paul Wall Texas Blingy" but whatever...it wouldn't stop me from buying a knife from the guy.

pitbullshotgun, i just got off the phone with mike. he said if you want to come down and eat some fresh shrimp with him for breakfast to come on down. he's in the shop right now making knives.

Mike is as real as they come. If you don't like his style, that's fine. But, you're missing out on a great guy and some damn fine knives. Real talk. ;)

Mike is one of the nicest people on this forum. If you do a search, and look at his posts, you will find that no matter what the topic, he always has something good and positive to say. His persona may not be to your liking, but at the very least show the man a little respect, as that is all he has ever shown people here.

The ghetto thing is just something he likes to do. His knives speak for themselves. He's an accomplished maker with designs being made by large manufacturers and used in movies and he's a damn fine custom maker.

He can make "ghetto gear", a gorgeous chef's knife, a traditional style, or anything else he gets an inkling to without missing a beat. His talent isn't in question. Not wanting to buy a knife from someone over something as silly as their website layout is fine, but you could at least do a bit of research before dismissing his skills because of it.

i had one of his knives sent to me for sharpening and it was a well made knife and it took one hell of an edge. i only collect knives from my buddy art summers but i would love to have one of mikes knives to add to my collection (along with a few other makers knives on the forum).

honestly, all im getting from this, is that this is a classic case of crappy advertisment. the reason i would choose not to do business with someone because of the're website layout, or the're advertisment, stems from the fact that it usualy (in this case, no. but thats why i asked the kind folks on bladeforums) tells what kind of clientele a busniess attracts. and i dont know about other people, but ill never buy from a company, or a custom knife maker, when ill know ill be embarressed to carry it or use it. its mainly the website that gets me. the other thing is, there is so little on his website that says hes a knife maker, i wasent even sure i had the right website. i dont care what anyone says, thats a probelm. also, hows the quality on his knives? im sure they are great, but as far as function, how are they?

buy one and find out for yourself :D like i said. i wish i had one of his knives to add to my collection.

The website is pretty awful but if the knives are quality, might as well get one. Knife people seem to like him and non-knife people don't know who he is.

Mike markets himself as a hustla/pimp/gangster and makes AWESOME knives...

he doesnt market himself as a ninja/special forces sniper/army ranger

he is $$$ is my book

I dont see why there is a reason to "plead" with the OP to make him like Snody.
As you can see from this thread there are several members who have the up most respect and trust for Mike.

No one is telling you to spend your money on his knives and I dont think people need to explain themselves for dealing with Mike and his business.. YOU dont like it, fine. Its your money, no one is telling you where to spend it.

Sorry, I just dont like to have to explain where and WHY I spend my money.

Dont judge a book by its cover.
