Marketing on the internet is tough. Anyone that can create a website and a persona that can sell his products is ahead of the curve and is going to be a success. Like Mike and his knives, the web site is completely his own and does what it was intended to, put out to the world who Mike Snody is. He doesn't need to sell one knife at a time off of his site, although he does to the people that subscribe. Go to a knife show where Mike has a table, he is always one of the first makers to sell out and not just because he only brought a couple of knives. There's a reason you don't see to many of his knives on the secondary market, not because of lack of quantity but because of the quality and the fact that every knife Mike makes reflects himself and his belief in his product.

Additionally, there aren't too many custom makers that will do runs of knives that are priced for the people that have been hit hard by the continuing recession. Mike could very easily keep his knives priced out of reach of the average person and still make a nice living for himself, figuring that factory collaberations will satisfy the people that can't afford a custom. But thats not the way Mike thinks and does things.

I have a custom Snody Resistor with iron wood scales and it is about the best designed small blade I own. Every since I was lucky enough to purchase it on the aftermarket, I have been on the hunt for more Snody customs, but damn they are hard to come. After all this discussion I think I'm gonna shell out the $5 and join his site.

His knives look great! How do you find them (and their prices) on his website? Do you have to be a member to view the store and/or order from him?

Thanks Friend, I really appreciate your interest in our work..

No, you do not need to register or become a member to view the store or purchase..

If you click on my sigline and then click on the large banner "Online Store" at the top of the left column you will enter the store..

The store is empty today and we dont take orders..... My associate Ultrareef will be adding new knives mid-week...

We are working on a three hundred (actually 358) piece custom folder run and this is the first time I have told anyone outside of my inner circle..

You guys are the very first to hear about this project..

Three Hundred Folders.. Chad Nichols and I forged a friendship in Vegas and when my boy got home he went to work forging my new stainless damascus steel

Fifty of the Folders will feature Nichols Damascus Blades and the only place to buy one will be SnodyWorld.

To summarize you dont need to join to buy a knife but there is three tier price structure and members receive a substantial discount..

If anyone has any questions please dont hesitate to call..

Get at me anytime.. 361 443 0161

Much Respect from Texas...

Just watched Snody's response to this on his website.

I have to say that I'm pretty new to this knife making / maker but the more I learn about Mike Snody the more I respect him and what he's doing. Some truly amazing knives and an outlook on life that's inspiring to anyone.

Well he might not wear a Stetson, but he's damn sure a Texan.
And I'll stand with him any day.
I only hope when I get better at knives, they are as nice as Snody Knives.
Respect from the 936.
Dan

I admit that the website design wouldn't tempt me to investigate further, perhaps I am not part of the target demographic. However, the examples of Snody's knife designs in this thread are very attractive indeed!

Just a quick post to echo what others have said better... I had the same thoughts as the OP, but did some looking around and came to the conclusion that Snody is a hugely respected maker who conducts himself in an impressively polite manner on these boards. His style is what it is, he's clearly a great businessman, and his website really does kind of confuse me :)

That Millbrook Tactical looks outstanding.

Thanks for the vid on G3, wish I could of made it.

I have a few Benchmades that are Snody designs - some of my favorites. Mike seems like a standup guy.

To the OP: If first impressions are important to you, have you ever thought about what folks think about your avatar?

Seriously, I only read your post because it concerned M. Snody, else I would have kept browsing.

i dont think my avatar matters much considering there are people on here with strippers as the're avatar. ide like to see you to try and find one person on here that doesent have something strange as ther pic. also, im not providing a product or service which warrents me giving a crap about what people think when they see it. i pay for my membership so why dont you actualy support bladeforums before you criticize my avatar. the fact that you completely missed the point of my question is what pisses me off entirely. why dont you actualy read what was written on here before voicing an invalid opinion.

You may not be selling anything right now, but I think you would be better off "giving a crap about what people think" than what you are doing. When you're on these forums there isn't too much that counts more than your reputation and who you have shown yourself to be by your posts and actions, that's the way people are able to judge who you are, by how you make yourself appear here.

I would agree with you that the avatar is fairly low on your list of problems in how people may judge you though.

Just some friendly advice and insight.

On a more jolly and playful note. I found someone who doesn't have something strange is their display picture on here; ME :P

No one is obligated to kiss your butt just because they run a business. Have you ever seen one of these signs?

please understand, i posted this thread out of curiosity, but now its getting quite irritating. you said it yourself, people on the forums will be judged by the're actions. i think if someone is going to judge me by my avatar, then good for them. im not judging mike, just his website. my avatar is a character from a series of comics from 1998 to 2002, called transmetroplitan. also, the only thing ive ever done wrong on this forum, was vouche for mantis knives. (lol. opinion is changed by now)

If you had communicated your point more clearly, "Snody's website is difficult to navigate and turns me away from purchasing his knives" people would probably be giving you a lot less of a hard time. Instead you stated your point in such an ambiguously muddled manner that people were able to draw many negative conclusions about what you were trying to say. Clarity is critical.

Then you really need to reconsider the tone of what you write here.

A simple "can anyone tell me about Mike Snody and his knives?" would've been sufficient, but you started this thread with a very cynical (at best) post. What conclusions do you expect people to draw?

im sure youve seen the video response he made? it wasent the tone in which i wrote it, it was the tone in which HE read it.
