@ the OP
Why don't you go into his suobforum on here and ask him those questions yourself? I'm sure that he would be willing to answer anything you can ask. ;)

That is a fair statement from OP in my opinion. He was not saying that Snody is a bad person or anything. He just said that the site is trash and just goes against what you would like to deal with - so really does not have much information and much buying appeal.
That was not about what kind of person Mike is, or if his knives are any good.
In this regard it was again fair and well stated.
And I am obviously one of these people who are bothered by that image.
And there are plenty of good knives around - I just can not afford to buy all of them. So what are the chances me picking one of Snody knives? Should he worry about that - I guess not. If people buy his knives faster than he can make them, he probably should not care about neither image, no site - and just focus on making his knives faster. Or not - just simply enjoy what he is doing.

If I had the spare $$$ I would get one of his older style Warlord knives with a quickness. Mike has a style all his own, but he is good people. As far as his knives, they are very well made & functional.

I agree wedsite is a bit much, and reminded me of the "Ali G" show on HBO(wich for the record makes me piss myself every time I watch it). But after reading all of these posts and some of Mikes I will have to try and find on of his knives I can aford. Now where can I buy one, I can't seem to find any on his site?

honestly, all im getting from this, is that this is a classic case of crappy advertisment. the reason i would choose not to do business with someone because of the're website layout, or the're advertisment, stems from the fact that it usualy (in this case, no. but thats why i asked the kind folks on bladeforums) tells what kind of clientele a busniess attracts. and i dont know about other people, but ill never buy from a company, or a custom knife maker, when ill know ill be embarressed to carry it or use it. its mainly the website that gets me. the other thing is, there is so little on his website that says hes a knife maker, i wasent even sure i had the right website. i dont care what anyone says, thats a probelm. also, hows the quality on his knives? im sure they are great, but as far as function, how are they?

Op needs to be clear about what he is trying to communicate.

I don't know Mike Snody very well, but he has never been anything but polite and friendly to me. And I'm part of his competition. What does that tell you about the man?
I don't own any of his knives, but I've never heard anything but praise for their quality and his craftsmanship.

That's a great example of his vids.

i was browsing around old trade threads recently and someone mentioned "snody knives" so i went to the website which is apperently named "snodyworld" and i couldent realy find out what the hell the person in the picture did for a living. can someone please explain to me A: who the hell came up with his website. B: does he even make knives? and C: general explenation? i wouldent buy a knife from this person just because of the layout of his website. is he giving out bail bonds for the people who buy his knives that he may or may not make? and can someone please tell me why everything on his website emulates a kind of "ghetto" theme?

Thanks for taking time to research my knives and thanks for posting this question.
I made a video response for you.. Please enjoy the rest of your weekend...
Much Respect from Texas...

Mike markets himself as a hustla/pimp/gangster and makes AWESOME knives...

he doesnt market himself as a ninja/special forces sniper/army ranger

he is $$$ is my book

Interesting point, and one I hadn't thought about. There are a TON of knife makers who like to let the world know they are high speed operators and that doesn't hardly raise an eyebrow.

Hey, if marketing himself the way he does helps him stand out then more power to him. Fortunately he seems to be a first-class maker, and that's the most important thing in the end.

benchmade has even sold plenty of his knife designs. so they even knew a good thing when they saw it.

Seriously, this. I'd rather buy from a dude who's obviously having fun with what he's doing than a mall ninja.

Kind of weird position to take on a guy given the OPs rather odd Avatar.

My only beef with Snody is that he usually shows a video rather than a picture of his knives. Makes it hard to look at his stuff at work:rolleyes:

He makes great knifes. But like you I can't get into the hype and videos. I just want a good knife.

Just watching his video gives me great respect for Mike, seeing how personable he is and seeing how his shop is, it really makes me want to buy his product. And the fact that he went through the trouble for this video response makes me like him that much more.

Mike $nody is the real deal brother. You can come to Mike's forum here on Blade and also on the USN to check him out too! It will be worth your time.

Mike walks the walk too!

Hope you get a chance to score one of Mike's knives...right after I do :D

Man, that dude with the sword sure had one of those "When keeping it real goes bad" moments!
I can't imagine what the other apprentice did:eek:

Good vid Mike:thumbup:

Mike's a class act, I've bought a lot of knives/gear from him over the years.. Like a lot of people on here have already said, and like his videos (if you even bothered to look them up..) demonstrate, his products speak for themselves... I noticed you're fairly new to the forum, so first of all welcome, and second, if I may be allowed a little suggestion... A little research goes a long way, so along with reading the responses on your thread, I highly suggest you do a google search, look up his channel on youtube, and further research his website and his work.. If you're a fan of custom knives at high quality, I don't think you'll be disappointed in the least. Oh by the way, like somebody pointed out in an earlier response, he does have a subforum here ;) I'm sure you're welcome to go introduce yourself....

That video had me lol...

Personally Mike, i don't think you need all the rap videos and whatnot, some are alright, but i like the ones of just you talking and of you in the shop working/ showing what you're working on.

Awesome reply Mike, I love your knives and I hope to get one in the future! Thanks for being real! I really liked that zombie green chef knife that you did!

The ghetto thing is just something he likes to do. His knives speak for themselves. He's an accomplished maker with designs being made by large manufacturers and used in movies and he's a damn fine custom maker.

He can make "ghetto gear", a gorgeous chef's knife, a traditional style, or anything else he gets an inkling to without missing a beat. His talent isn't in question. Not wanting to buy a knife from someone over something as silly as their website layout is fine, but you could at least do a bit of research before dismissing his skills because of it.

This.

It's easy to be dismissive. But it's only a little harder to refrain, find out a bit more, and lose the negativity.
