Coffee

Hi everyone!

I tried to log on BF's early this morning, but was unable to due to technical problems? I just logged on, and there was a PM notification waiting for me, (sent by Monofletch). He basically told me that the SS of my gift was concerned, because my package was scanned delivered on Monday.

Here's what happened: typically my USPS mail is delivered inside a secured lock & key mail box (even packages). Evidently (unbeknownst to me), the USPS driver left this package at my front door (due to the Christmas volume). I fortunately found this sitting at my front door arriving home from work, late Tuesday afternoon/evening. I tried to log onto BF's early this morning to update this thread, but unfortunately there were technical issues, & I couldn't get on...

Man, there are some very thoughtful, giving guys on this forum! I received a bag of "KEAN COFFEE" PANAMA LA ESMERALDA. Enclosed with this awesome smelling coffee, was a card describing the history of this maker. Here's a tidbit for you: "In 2010, at the Best of Panama Auction one lot of coffee from this farm set the world record as the most expensive coffee ever sold at that time: $170 per lb. raw, unroasted."

^WOW! :D This is like one of those beautiful knives, you're afraid to open up, much less ever consider using. It smells wonderful through the bad...I think that I'll wait until Christmas morning, to enjoy my first cup.

I know next to nothing about traditional knives...with that stated, my SS (I know who he is now :) ) also sent me a Northfield un-X-ld Brand Natural Stag traditional knife. It's perfectly centered, & is a gorgeous knife! WOW!

Also included in the medium USPS priority flat rate box (mail insured, was a really nice note, along with a wrapped gift. The note reads:
"John, The wrapped gift came from my wife's hometown, Nagano, Japan. Please read the flyer about the coffee. I know you are not a big fan of traditional knives, but this was the best I can do. Enjoy!

I'm almost speechless! :joyous:

Thank you so much for these wonderful gifts! I promise I'll get a couple of pictures up this weekend!

John

I am blown away! Thank you Danny! There is 3 bags of coffee and a cold brew coffee maker. I can not wait to try these. There is a Spyderco that is the smoothest lockback knife I have ever owned. And a GEC Hayn Helper. I have never had a GEC, let alone a traditional, funny thing is, I was just looking at these today! And I don't know why I haven't tried them before. It is a really nice looking knife. It is not sharp but I think that is normal??? And a sharpening stone. Very nice gifts. Thanks again Danny.
I'm glad you like it, Ryan. It's not unusual to get a new knife that is less than sharp and we all have our own personal gauge for what is 'sharp enough'. The only reason I didn't sharpen it is because it was new in the tube and I hadn't talked myself into using it yet. About the only thing I did with it was take a picture or two. I still think the nifebrite handles are cool.

Any advice on cold brewing coffee would be appreciated. I have never done it.
If you go back to page 93, I had a post about it with a few pictures. I mostly like to dilute the concentrate a bit and drink it iced. This is really nice once it warms up outside again. Some people add hot water instead and drink it that way. The bottom of the brew core unscrews to make it easier to clean out. It took me a couple batches before I realized it did.

Drinking some cold brew from Guatemala today, It takes a little extra work to make but so nice to have a pot on hand. Looks like that storms finally reached our neck of the woods, stay warm out there

Holiday Spectacular!

So, who is left besides me?

^ Well gee, who could Mono be talking about here? Who got stuck with the Board President of the CC Coffee talk club? :D

Just an FYI, JLS...you'll be thanking me 10 years down the road, for my "Patience is a Virtue" 2016 Christmas coffee gift. :D It'll be there by Christmas!

If you'd like, I can have it expedited, via either UPS, or FedEx. ;)

Thank you guys for the advice with the cold brew. I will set some up when I get home tonight. I stayed up last night after the rest of the family was in bed sleeping and sharpened that GEC and read some stuff about care and maintenance for it. I'm a knife knut, I know. That thing is so sharp now and cuts so well I can't even believe it! The fit and finish are amazing too! Just what I needed - another type of sharp pointy things to start collecting;)

Ryan, That Colombia Huila,Pitalito Full city roast by Roastery7 is some GREAT coffee. I tried to see if I could Buy it off the internet, but I could'nt....Got any Ideas? The website says they're a Wholesale roaster. I'm having a cup right now!

I got that at my favorite coffee shop that I go to entirely too often. I don't know how else to get it. I haven't seen it online or in stores. It is a Minnesota based company. And yes, I have an idea. It will be in the form of a tracking number tomorrow. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat off the forums.
