Cold Steel is OK. Their marketing machine is both effective and off putting (depending on your taste in knives and salesmanship), but I like their specialty items for what they are. Their tomahawks are good beaters if you want a cheap thrower. I like the sjambok for a neat ten dollar toy. The trailmaster in Carbon V was a great knife, but I have moved on to bigger and better blades. I might pick up the Sk5 version one day if I have some money burning a hole in my pocket. Supposedly, their swords are pretty good, but a bit pricey for what they are IMHO.
Actually, my favorite CS product is the simple Bushman. A simple, tough, no frills beater than can be thrown in with camp supplies or the tool box. I've had one going on 7 years now rumbling around in the back of various trucks and jeeps. Best $13 bucks I've ever spent of a fixed blade, actually.
However, I would say that as a collector and user I'm pretty much done with Cold Steel and their "higher end" knives. As I've said, the quality is OK, but you can get more performance and less hype for less cash (or at least better value for your dollar) from other manufactures both custom and production.
