That is exactly what happened three days ago with my spyderco paramilitary. Just cutting stuff in the kitchen and dropped it on the floor. Bye bye tip.If the floor was a hard surface like tile, that doesn't sound unreasonable at all for a common knife, production or custom, to chip at the tip. It seems to me that the real problem is the guy keeps dropping his knives.
Assuming that the knives fell 3 feet onto a hard surface, I'd dare anyone who doesn't think a knife should chip at the tip on an impact like that to test any of their non-CS knives and see how they hold up. A few knives may not be affected- those with very thick tips. I'd guess that most folders would see damage from that.
I'd like to think I won't let it happen three times, and certainly not with the same knife brand and else I will get a course "how to make sure your knife does not drop"
I just got the new American Lawman and I have to say it is rock solid. Haven't really tested it, but it actually feels great ergonomically and I have to say it really gives off an air of confidence in it's strenght.
I definitely do not like all of cs's stuff and I do not have anything at all against Lynn. In fact, he looks like a pretty passionate and nice guy. So what, he likes to wear spandex sometimes... I'd be rich if I got a nickle from every guy here that has ever worn something weird
How he fits in the whole equation is beyond me. It's about the knives for me... Pick what you prefer. The tests are not fake and yes, sometimes knives will fail under heavy stress. I recently almost killed an emerson (see horseman post in emerson forum) but I spanked it and was really impressed
CS has pleased a lot of people and are still doing so in 2010. Thanks CS, keep rocking!
