Sure his company and self promoteing are over the top. But he is in business to make money and he is certainly doing that. Hunting and enjoying himself good for him
I have seen a few cold steel videos like the Tomahawk video and it was very good
The prices on the website are crazy but who buys of there web site when you can go on ebay and pay half the suggested price
The Laredo and Nachez bowie are great piece along with the trailmaster
I prefer the old carbon V
The Talwar and Black Sable are IMHO heavy duty well constructed folders and I have a few of both
The New Hawks are what has my eye out of the new stuff the spike hawk and trench hawk look outstanding
I think alot of the CS haters are just jealous and can't look past the goofy promo stuff and some of the cheezy prouducts that they secretly lust over
all I can say Talwar one of best knifes in my collection

Ankerson we got the same knives
For the money and IMHO maybe the best prouduction bowies out there
What is it that some of you guys do with your knives that makes the steel they're made out of so important to you? I'll bet that if a knife came without a description most of you couldn't tell the difference between 420 and H1.
I don't think it's so much the steel itself, at least for me. I've always said that AUS8A and VG-1 seem like fine steels for EDC blades and that most people probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. However, there is a difference between steels and the higher end stuff that CS puts out seems to charge premium steel prices for perfectly sufficient, yet (relatively speaking) middle-of-the-road steels.
The fact of the matter is that H1 will absolutely not rust, giving it a characteristic that 420 dos not have and probably justifying a slightly higher price. Most people still probably won't be able to tell the difference. But those that work heavily in highly humid areas (where rust is a practical problem) or in the ocean will probably be able to tell a difference.
I have owned CS knives in the past and I've repeatedly said that some of their stuff seems to be a great deal for the price, like the Spartan that I own now. But something like the Hatamoto on eBay that can be found at about $220 shipped on the low end seems relatively high considering that the majority of folders on the market today using that steel (really, the one closest to it, but similar enough- VG10) tend to go for noticeably less.
CS has been known to do this over and over. Before taking on VG-1, they used to use AUS8A in the San Mai blades and charge incredibly expensive prices relative to what the rest of the industry was doing. If we consider that their main logo is that they have the "World's Strongest, Sharpest Knives", which really is an outright lie, it really seems to show that they are using steels that cost less and are trying to pass them off as something more than they are.
I think lately CS has been progressing for the better lately, particularly by working with Andrew Demko. Demko seems to be doing for CS what Ken Onion did for Kershaw, at least in the eyes of the "afi" knife community.
If you're looking for a rational discussion about this, I'm open to be shown that I'm wrong, exaggerating or being overly emotional here.
Sorry not everyones a fan , but what type of design would you like to see in the future?
