Come to the Snark side

I hope zz realizes I was snarking him (and Murph). I might need serious medical advice at some point. :D

Of course I know you were snarkin' me. It's the SNARK thread. :D I also have this tendency to "ignore" snark by treating it as honest to goodness truth and answer as if I believed what was being said. I can be south end of a north bound mule like that. Sometimes that leads to a different trail of snark.

One thing I never truly snark about is medical stuff. I may kid a little about something like MM's axe to the head, but if I say any thing about a medical condition, I really mean it and believe what I'm saying. Even if the condition being discussed is in the snark thread. As the snark thread is kinda like a catch-all chat thread sometimes, people will drop hints about conditions and I have to turn the spigot of useful and useless info.

It's all good. People who take everything too seriously need to get a life. :D

One never knows when the meteorite with his name on it will strike. :D

Had my first evaluation with my senior manager (first year after uni, first year at work). Good things. There's this scale of performance that goes like this: O (unsatisfactory)-M(moderate)-G+(you do everything you're asked, nothing more, nothing less)-G++(pretty good)-G+++(véry good)-Z (véry very good, only the top 6-7 percentile get this as well as:)-U(completely outstanding, this is only given to like 5 people in a company of 14k people). I got a Z-score, which is pretty insane already. AFAIK, I was the only one at the office with that score, most were G++. Anyway, they're pretty happy about what I'm doing, so I'm getting a bonus and a raise, as well as a... well, I've been thinking about how this is being called in English but I wouldn't know? Anyway, what we're being paid at the company depends on what level we are at. There's 1-2-3-4-5, and then A-B-C-D-E. I was at 3, now I'm going to level 4. If that makes any sense. Goody goody... I'm told this is only supposed to happen after 5 years in the company, but they want me at other departments as well so they gotta speed things up in order to "scale up" more quickly. Or something like that. Long story short: good times are a' comin'.

Letters got tired and started to lean. They need a tactical walker.

Lol'd

looks sweet WW!

Let me get this straight. Murph was taking a leak and saw something that made him faint. You'd think he would be used to it by now.

Todd did warn him about shaking it more then twice afterwards :D

Congrats on the good review Gshark!

Time to get the boy from school and head to physiotherapy!

Sheath I made for an izula II. This setup is for a giveaway on the esee forums. I think I am going to make one like this for my 14 but probably single stitching.

Oh noes!!

Lolz :D

That happened to me once or a hundred times. I'm not exactly proud of it, but that sort of thing makes for good stories and songs :p

Well yeah, of course you're right about that... it's obviously a very silly idea! But people still chop through cinder blocks pretty often... so... why not ice bottles?

The theory in my head is, it would take a whole lot of speed and force to bust (not really cut) through the ice... but it would also require a good edge and very skillful follow-through to also cut through the rest of the plastic bottle. As WW said, if there's anyone who can do it, it would be Dan Keffeler or Donovan Phillips. Or maybe Moose.

Mind you, I'm talking about a single pint. If someone manages to put a knife through a frozen 2-liter in one shot... great googly moogly, that's one bad mofo.

It's a ridiculous concept. But it sounds like fun. Since when has being ridiculous ever stopped us from having fun? It's not like hacking through a 2x4 or maple tree in a timed event is something that actually happens a whole lot when you're out camping or fishing or survivaling, either... ;)

I will do it

Dan

Oh okay, Latin. So you're telling me Murph is really a woman? Crazy stuff. I never would have guessed it.
Well... I guess it explains the toenail polish, now that I think about it.

Ok, I just spilled my beer! I did not see this one coming. Hope you're feeling better, Murph.

Great looking sheath & Denny's scales look pretty slick as well! I might have to go out and find a stick to whittle on now....

Congrats, G-Shark. One possible term for the system you describe is "Step Increases". Such as, ... You "step up" from 2A to 2B after 6 months, then assuming you haven't screwed the pooch, from 2B to 2C after a year, 2C to 2D after another year, or whatever the stepping criteria might be. Another style is the Schedule/Group method used by the state of Texas. You have schedules A, B and C, groups ranging from 01 to 30, with A being Hourly employees, B being professional or management and C being LEOs. Each pairing has a minimum and a maximum, which may or may not overlap with the group above or below it. Top end of A01 is higher than the bottom end of A02, but A02's max is greater than A01's max. Different states and companies have similar but different names/terminology for their payrolls.

Usually we just say "effing awesome!"

Pay grade is the usual term, I think. That's fantastic, G. I'm happy for you, and it's nice that your first job out of the gate is for a company that appreciates your talents. Consider yourself fortunate.

Not the prettiest cut, but i got her done.... Sober even :D

LMAO!! Im going to do a small batch of 4 of these... Thats a whole lot of hand filing.. But thats prolly how ill do em. I guess i could find another knife maker with spare time and contract out grinding the bevels... But then id kind of feel like they had more to do with its performance than i did...

Thanks for the tip on the Gflex, i look into it!! Cord wrapping was my first plan. I loved my kill devil hawk that was just cord wrapped... But i know some nice wood or something would look nicer.

Be a while before these really get going though... Ill have the blanks cut before long but probably wont actually start working them until i get moved.

I got a question, and this is gonna really sound smartassish, but its not my intent. There has been a long controversy about at what point a maker is actually the maker. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you paid to have the design converted to a program, then you pay to have them cut out, you also pay to have someone heat treat them, and pay to have someone make the sheaths. What would be the difference to farm out the bevels? If you found a decent enough maker he or she could grind the bevel to your specs. Especially if your going to do that big of a bevel by hand on 1/4 piece of steel, if its going to be a bevel large enough to be symmetrical with the smaller hawk, I think you'll rethink your logic on that one.
