i'll probably build a "permanent" item, that's drop in, along with a ramp for "stock" and ... it'll be amusing from here on out...

smarty pants. I may have to steel that idea when in the market for a new gun safe.

Got my GI Joe kung fu grip in... Had to wait till my son was passed out to play with it LMAO

Bladite that is very cool 'engineering'. Growing up on a farm I always felt my dad was the king of 'make do' or 'make it work' solutions. He would come up with the most amazing ways to use the basic simple machines so that heavy or awkward tasks could become a one man job. I'd like to feel some of that rubbed off on me and I'll routinely move things around that probably should be done by several guys.

Thanks for sharing your ingenuity with us. Now, I'll be waiting to see the video of you testing the sawstop with your finger. Ok, maybe a hotdog.

(Edited to add: just kidding about the finger and hot dog. I know how much it costs to repair one of those when you 'test' it. Maybe we could get a fund going. Once there is enough in it for the test and repair you could do the vid.)

Whilst perusing a forum I hadn't checked in awhile I stumbled across a rather interesting find. Apparently there is a place that sells metal cups that fit the pilots flask. They are called Spanish canteen cups (A google search for "spanish canteen cup" will return the place). Here is a picture for those interested.

So the Army Corps of Engineers has openings for trainees to run and maintain the hydroelectric dams on the Columbia River not far from where I grew up. Unfortunately they now require you take and pass an exam in person, at the home office which is 1500 miles from me rather than inviting you to take it if your application was accepted, as was the case in June 2013 when I took the exam. I've sent out 4 emails to various people requesting assistance retrieving proof of my test score so that I can attach it to the application and be eligible for the position. If I can get the score and get it submitted by the 12th, I should be on my way to an $80k+ a year job. When I took it in 2013 I was told I passed and would be advanced to the next round of hiring, I think they said I got something like a 92 on the exam (out of 100). 70 is the minimum to pass.

Southwest Washington? Heck it's probably the same district. The positions that are open now are near The Dalles. I've been up and down 84 along the gorge more times than I can count.

Thanks fellas! I knew holding on to the decorations and hides from back when we had snakes, frogs, lizards, and fish would eventually pay off LMAO

I think its pretty cool how the hex hawk is close to scale of a full sized hatchet or axe too :)

Wish me luck fellas... Knife raffles going down shortly!! This will be my 3rd attempt in the last week LMAO

I didnt win and i blame all you beckerheads for the lack of good luck wished my way :grumpy:

:D -snark.

8 dollars isnt too bad of a loss though. There are more raffles tomorrow but ill probably skip them.

Been looking for a small pocket pouch, to carry a few EDC items in. Came across this earphone pouch posted on the EDC forum. Worked perfectly for what I wanted it for.

ThruNite Ti3 AAA flashlight, Leatherman Squirt, flash drive, a few spare batteries...

And a little cash stash in the zippered section:

Works out great.

Hey that looks pretty good. I tried putting together an EDC survival/utility kit in a expedition mini pocket organizer but it was just a little bit too big to comfortable carry in a pocket. Not to bad to take with you in the car or in a larger bag and it would work ok clipped on with a carabiner or something but it just didn't work out. Yours looks much more like what I had in mind.

It works out great. Today was the first day I used it. I like the Maxpedition micros, but I agree, too big for pocket carry. Here's another photo for size comparison:
