As far as I am concerned, writing "I'll take it" constitutes a legally binding contract under US laws (UCC) that supersede forum rules and customs. OP is within his legal rights to be pissed off.

Are you a legal authority? By whom were you elected or appointed?

a legally binding contract

This is true. But it is also meaningless, as there were no damages except the seller's loss of the bargain. And the seller has a duty to mitigate his damages by trying to sell to another buyer. So talking about legal rights is fun, but as a practical matter it has nothing to do with this thread. The seller was not harmed, other than that he now has to relist the knife and sell it to someone else. If that's the worst thing that happens to me tomorrow, I will feel that its been a pretty good day. Rock on.

Very true, don't really know about damages until the next deal is done. Nevertheless, it is a bad idea to breach contracts.

I think that Esav just appointed Barabus and me to lofty positions of high legal authority at Bladeforums. Thanks Esav! I'll take the title of Imperial Magistrate, please.

I'll be the AIM or assistant imperial magistrate. I do not like the lime light. Thanks Esav.

It's just annoying bc it seems like a witch hunt. The handful of deals I've changed my mind on out of at least over a hundred I've done since I've joined. The other guys involved are ganging up to call me scumbag etc. For what? Changing my mind before anything was shipped? It's pretty ridiculous. If you look up the definition of welcher he's basically calling me a scammer and I am no such thing. The only thing I'm guilty of is changing my mind. God forbid you do that around here. And I did so BEFORE anything was ever sent and in most cases within minutes and the knife was just sold to the next guy in line. There's a reason ppl call 2nds, 3rds, etc around here. Ppl are allowed to change their mind. Some of these discussions happened months ago and they're just jumping on the band wagon.

I think the OP is just venting about someone who shows constant bad form on the for sale forum. Corey said "i'll take it" in a thread of mine and even sent money to my paypal. Then I packaged the knife up right then and there (I keep USPS boxes and labels at home) 20 mins later he asks me to refund his money, which I did. The purchased package cost me a couple dollars or something, I didn't mention it, and that was that. I guess he just found another knife he would rather buy. It kinda pissed me off, and really irritated me. I think he just changes his mind a lot, not the end of the world. I have purchased a couple knives I thought twice about or found another deal on and still followed through with the initial purchase because it would have been a selfish move to back out of a deal I posted "i'll take it" in.

I think that if you post "i'll take it" in a thread, it screws the sale up for the seller if you back out. Don't say you will take it if you don't intend to buy it. At least deal with it via PM.

I don't think I would sell another knife to Comeandtakeit. Unfortunately, changing your mind, low balling people and inconveniencing them aren't grounds to get kicked off the forum. It's just part of selling to some members here.

After being reminded by the op bc I had completely forgotten but obviously he had not and was holding a grudge. This happened back in April and the knife was immediately sold to the next guy in line that had 2nds. Also neglected to mention by his own admission via PM that we've completed a good deal as well in the past.

The problem is we dont know people on here personally, so all we have to go off is your word. If you say "Ill Take It" and then go back on it regardless of when, it means you arent good to your word and regardless its a pain in the butt to have someone back out of a deal. Ive sold stuff on other forums and have had it happen too, super annoying. Plus its basically unbelieveable that you are arguing that its not a big deal and that your word shouldnt be taken seriously.

Basically, if i sell on here i wouldnt sell to you after reading this, i also wouldnt buy from you.

No worries. No one is gonna force you to take my money or knives.

Actually that guy didn't buy it, when I sent him a PM he said he had already purchased another knife Because you posted paypal sent, I was a little peeved about that. I did eventually end up selling it in another thread a month or two later. This thread isn't about the good deals you have, it's about you pulling out on deals with multiple trusted forum members. All you have is your word here and yours is compromised because of YOUR actions.

theAntihero says it better than me. The things you do here affect your reputation. It's not a witch hunt, but if you piss off enough people.... A thread like this will pop up about you.

Most here seem to get it, backing out is bad form. On ar15.com you get banned for welching, as welchers should be since they have no integrity. But that exchange is run "tight and right".

What do you want, Mr. Simple, his head on a stick? Mr. Comeandtakeit has been kicked in the shins repeatedly in this thread. Just sell the dang knife to someone else.

Backing out over the value of a tiff lite is really bad form! Lol. That's like a pizza and a two liter coke. Would rather have just done the deal to stay in good form.

I would also like to state that I did have a good deal with comeandtakeit in addition to the bad one, and that I don't think he should be banned. He seems to be a "serial welcher", but I think this thread is enough. He is now aware that his actions are bothering people and it's not helping his reputation, but he can turn it around if he continually honors his word in transactions. This community has forgiven much worse. Nothing was stolen, it's just really irritating. The people of bladeforums will eventually weed out those that do not belong if it continues.

Or 80% of a pizza if you're in NYC (and like decent pizza.)

Don't mention AR-15 .com on here. You'll get berated.
