Basically im just saying, be more careful with your word, thats pretty much all you have online.
.... even if nothing else useful comes out of this thread then it was worth it just for this statement !!!! Have I fired off an "I'LL TAKE IT" and ten minutes later seen something else I wont or the same thing at 10% less.... sure have, but so what....I had COMMITTED myself, sure I could back out or let the seller know I was re-diverting my funds ;) but as has been stated your word/reputation is all you have in the cyber world and I like mine intact and respected. Doubly important for me as I often ask folks to ship internationally, the trust build around "my word" is critical to me staying in this hobby.

The bottom line; deal honestly, with integrity with open communication while always remaining a gentleman and things just seem to go better.

A man is only as good as his word. Real men keep their word and are known for doing so consistently.

This thread is absolutely ridiculous and full of grown men crying like little girls because they had someone change their mind and not want to buy their knife. Get over it! A "real" man would. I'm an Iraq war veteran, husband, and father. I'm perfectly secure with my manhood and don't need an anonymous person trolling the internet to tell me if I'm a real man or not. This whole thing with the OP happened in a span of 10 mins. He offered, I said yeah, and then I wrote back within minutes to say actually it's not what I want. He hadn't even had time to send me his PayPal info yet or write anything on his sale thread. He's just pissed off because his knife has been sitting in the for sale section going on 5 days and the only guy originally interested changed their mind and said no.

I am a cyber war veteran, father and husband. I change my mind less often, so have not threads like this started about me.

Also, what has any if this got to do with bf? Nothing. I see people here trying to help you deal with anxiety, so that you change mind less often. :-)

You just ain't getting it....
Instead of owning your mistake, you just proceed to alienate others.

Nice to see that you haven't changed a bit......lol

I fully understand don't post "I'll take it" and then change your mind or some people's heads will explode. Got it!

Not quite, don't post "I'll take" it unless you can and will stand by it. It's really not that hard to get your head round. :)

It's like this:

comeandtakeit (let's call him CATI for short) sees a knife he might, potentially want for sale on here.
CATI decides to quickly post "I'll take it" to make sure that no one else claims it before him.
CATI then does his research and thought process to decide if he truly does want the knife.
If CATI should decide he does not want the knife, or finds the same knife at a lower price elsewhere, he "changes his mind."
If CATI decides he wants the knife, he buys it, and it's a "good transaction." Positive feedback +1! (this is why you shouldn't blindly accept all positive feedback as an indicator of person's trustworthiness...search in this Feedback forum as well)

Unfortunately, the way you operate is shady at best, but more like scummy. The fact that you're a husband, father, and Iraq war veteran doesn't make what you're doing any less scummy or any more acceptable. Man up and take responsibility for your actions. Stop acting like people should "get over it" because "it's not a big deal." You are inconveniencing others because you can't stick to your word and quit the crap. You can keep lying to yourself or just face the facts. I know I will ignore any claims from you in For Sale threads that I post, mostly because of your response to this thread, not that the thread was made in the first place. If you responded appropriately, it would be a different story. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Disclaimer: I don't believe I've ever had a deal with you, but I have read through this thread and looked back at how you do actually operate in the Exchange.

This really is not that big of a deal, and it resulted in no harm whatsoever to Mr. Simple. I would say "okay, no prob" and then sell the knife to the next guy who wants it. No money exchanged hands, no knife was packed up or shipped off, and like Mr. Comeandtakeit said, Mr. Simple had not even had time to change to sales thread. Mr. Comeandtakeit has 50+ positive iTrader transactions, and 1 negative exchange. At best its "uncool" to change your mind in 10 minutes, just like its uncool to change your mind about coming over to your buddy's house to play basketball. But calling someone "scummy" or not a real man? That's just stupid. There is a mob mentality thing going on here, and if this thread survives for a couple of more pages, people will be burning torches and getting out the noose. Over what, exactly?

Uncool? Maybe. I bet that some of us in this thread do an uncool thing or two today too. But scummy, unmanly and worthy of getting kicked off the forum? Give me a break. Playing the wounded victim role (for no good reason, IMO) when a guy says no thanks to your knife is uncool too.

Look back at past activity to see how things escalate from "uncool" to scummy. If it's an isolated incident, not a big deal at all. It's when there's a pattern and many incidences of the same "uncool" behavior where it becomes an issue.

It's the repetitive nature that makes it more of a problem then just passing on a knife.

comeandtakeit

You should read through this thread again and see why this type of behavior bothers people. Maybe take a little break from the exchange too.
