Looks like we're just going for the day.Headed to the cabin next weekend. 1st time in about 6 or 7 weeks. Going to go clean it up, as we left right after a bug bomb was set off. Temps in the low to mid 70's. So far the forecast says sunny, but, you know how that goes.
Must be a serious tent you made those for!Had a plan to make some tent stakes out of 1/2" rebar. Cut a couple scraps into 16" lengths and started heating and beating.
Knew it had been a while since the last time I did any appreciable hammering, and was surprised at how poorly I was doing drawing out the points, needing to size up on the hammer and resting after every 4.
Got all 11 drawn out and went in for lunch
Came out and flattened the ends & curled them.
As I was finishing, I got to thinking the stock looked fatter than 1/2".
It's 5/8. SMH.
That's more than half again the steel to move

So yesterday I took it easy and made a leather scabbard for the saber a buddy is making

Nice, hope to see them soonBeen in the stove buying mood again. Bought 4 recently. Also had a custom knife made. Waiting for it in the mail.
I've had both the happy camper and taykit coil burners. I've had issues with getting coil burners started, in cold weather. At one time I had 40 back pack stoves. I even made a coil burner once cool stoves but don't depend on them below. 20°
Taykit is a cool stove but I took it when I camped the first morning of deer season and I had to basically cover it in fuel and light it to get it going for breakfast. I did alright on it . I gave $5 at a yard sale it brought $160 on eBayI came close to purchasing a Taykit yesterday, but didn't get it. My big prob with the coil stoves is that there's one speed only, high, haha.
