Composite Blade Shallot

Daw gon it!!!......I have an hour commute to work, so plenty of time to ponder.....on the way in today, I was thinking how cool it would be to put my CB blade on my black Shallot handles........someone beat me to IT !!!.....I like it!!!
sorry for the run together sentence.

Got my rainbow shallot too.....was thinking of doing the swap with my black bladed shallot....soooo many variations!!!
All I need now is is a 110V shallot and both colors of the DAM shallot!!!!
Cant wait!!

ex, just remember that the blade on the CB Shallot is thinner than any of the others to date. So if you go FrankenShalloting, you have to use every single part of the CB in the FS...the only parts from the donor you'll use will be the scales.

Waiting for the 110V shallot is difficult. I pretty much decided I'd like a Groove Tanto, also, but it would be a waste to pay shipping for both separately. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to add a Sharpmaker to the order, all from one place.

Just got mine today. Blade is centered, bevel is perfect and blade is very sharp. The usual Kershaw high quality standard. I will play with it for a couple of days before I make it even sharper.:D

How do you remove the CB Shallot blade from the handle? I tried to unscrew the pivot screw, but it only spins without unscrewing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

the pivot needs some pressure on the back side in order to allow the pivot screw to come out. there are directions done up by a bunch of people earlier in this thread, i think.

There are a few ways...
1. Open the knife and push the blade down on something hard, like a table, with some sort of padding on it so you don't slice up your table. While pressing down, unscrew the pivot screw. The tension on the blade pushes it against the pivot pin enough to stop the pin from moving.

2. My preferred method... Remove the pocket clip. Put a doubled-over rubber band right on top of the pivot bolt (the side tht keeps spinning) and then re-attach your pocket clip as tight as you can without cutting into the rubber band. Turn the pivot screw. The rubber band creates enough of a hold on the pivot bolt to keep it from turning. Finish your work, then get the tension back to where you want it. Remove the pocket clip and rubber band; re-attach your pocket clip. Done.

mgarza, welcome to the forums!

JN is spot on. I'd try a little pressure in the blade first. It torques the pivot and puts it under enough pressure to lock it in place.

Give these ideas a try, and if they won't work for you, come back and let us know. There's other ways to skin a cat!

Success! I was able to remove the Shallot blade from the handle using the rubber band under the clip method. Thanks alot guys for your help!

Hello ,

I have the Junkyard Dog I and II, BOA, LAHAR, Avalanche and ZT500 - quality laudable, but Shallot, Stainless Handle, 14CZN/ZDP189 a little disappointing, probably just me not successful.Ordered Shallot CPM S110V, I hope will be all right . All goods buy in Knifeworks.com . Parcels with Shallot, Stainless Handle, 14CZN/ZDP189 received today - and :(

Sorry my English , google translate

i got my shallot...i didn't realize it was narrow...that's what i don't like about it....i have pretty big hands....it's just not comfortable for me.....i'm gonna just trade it eventually.....i never liked the recurve but i always just sharpen it out.....i'l lprobably leave it though.....especially since most people like em......ryan

Got my Shallot CB yesterday, like it a lot :)

It is the perfect transition between my Leek CB and my Tyrade/JYD II CB.

Kershaw, you keep making excellent CBs and I will keep buying them :D

COOL AIR, that is not normal for Kershaw.
Looks as if is bent in the middle? Is that what I'm seeing?
Is there anyway you can return it to them or where you bought it at?
I know they would make it right.

mike

i cant tell if there is a curve in the wood or not...looks curved when I look at the wood, blade looks curved from the picture...
