Concern with damaging an expensive EDC?

Im the kind of guy who doesnt care about or want to see your safe queens. Show me how well your equipment holds up. If you got a knife that you use the crap out of and it holds a edge Im impressed. Show me a knife thats never been used and just wiped down with a cloth and I wint pay attention. Same with guns. Tell me how it cycles and if it groups well. If you never shot it because its just your showpiece then you can shove it up your ***

That's nice. I don't agree with you about knives or guns. If you were interested in a particular discontinued knife and someone offers one for sale that you are aware of and at a price you're comfortable with, would you rather it was all beat up or a safe queen before you get it? Same price for both since you don't care about safe queens.

You see there is plenty of room in this world for all sorts of interests.

Better to know daily what it can take than to find out in the

wrong situation.
That's the approach I take with most everything material, and sometimes otherwise.
It's a good way to find out what's what, and who's who.
But...

I baby stuff that has what I consider either historical or sentimental value. Doesn't mean I keep'm under glass and don't occasioanlly use'm. There's not many I have like this(count'm on one hand). Other than this, and for anyone to shove something in the wrong direction, I agree.

Edit to add some visual reference.

First of all, I can relate to you on the addiction and coming here for a few simple questions. I carried the same Benchmade every day for the last four or five years then I came here looking for advice on a knife to carry with my turnouts (firefighting gear) and have since bought two Cold Steel folders, two Kershaw folders, one Spyderco folder, and one ZT folder.

I do not worry about damaging them in EDC. That said, I do not abuse them with things like prying chains. I am not above cutting copper wire with them but they are made to be used.

What military equipment has the biggest draw? New old stock, fresh out of the armory never issued? Or that battle worn rifle that has the finish long gone. The stock has a few nicks and scrapes from what might have been impacts.

What if it's never been used AND never been wiped down with a cloth? Do you want to see those?

This is a knife hobbyist forum. By nature it has to cover everyone. And there's room for everyone, even those low life scuzz bags who will buy 3 or 4 limited runs, and then turnaround and try to flip themfor a 200% markup each because they are whores and have a knife addiction problem that they can't afford. = )
