Concerns About Survive! Business and Misleading Lead Time Estimates

Anyways, yeah — Moletta is a heck of a designer :) I'm pretty intrigued by the handles on the Enki and their M5/M7 knives. Look super comfortable.

The Enki is a fabulous knife. That's what I ultimately got after giving up on the 5.1. It was more expensive but the quality was first rate and the ergo's worked very well for me. I owned a Legion too, and it was just as good. But now KR is gone!

KR I think now is out of business. I haven't recinved news in a long time.

I just checked their website and sure enough they're out of business. What a d@mn shame this is - they had some really nice knives. @molletta, will another company be making something like your Enki?

Oh, and also to theJman, I noticed recently that Utility Tool knives have become available on bladeHQ ! Been considering one, but have to wait until my budget allows for it, e.g. http://www.bladehq.com/item--Utility-Tool-Knives-Wilderness--37382

Well what do you know, UT has hit the big time. Good to hear. I dealt directly with them when I config'ed my knife, and they were first rate all the way. Jim actually sent me some spec's and pictures of the 0200 in pre-production form during abuse testing because during our frequent exchanges he came to know I go for larger knives.

I still really like my 0151 and would for sure buy another knife from them. The one you linked to has the exact handle profile I chose (they have 4 different options for profile) which is very comfortable even after a long time. My hands are a bit larger than most people, so I wish it was a touch thicker, but other than that the handle works very well for me. For those with more average sized hands I suspect it would be about perfect.

Just wanted to put this out there for those that question why I am involved with this thread.

I have two open orders with S!K, one for a 2.7 and another for a 5.1. I know I'm in for a long wait when it comes to the 5.1 and will probably seek a refund on that purchase.

As for the 2.7, I am in the same exact boat as Hale Storm. His latest post on that issue is located at the top of page 10.

Here is an exact quote from the S!K advertisement in question that was sent on 29 Jul 16:

GSO-2.7 and GSO-4.1 Presale

Limited Amounts Available Now!

For the folks who don't want to fight the Monday crowds, we are offering a Presale on the GSO-2.7 and GSO-4.1. It will take us a couple months to fulfill these presale orders so they are being listed at a 5% discount!

Actually the ergos on my alpha are fine. Great even. Good balance too.

On my V1 Alpha the ergo's were quite bad, enough to make me send it back. V2 is much better though, and other than being a little on the thin side I like the handle.

I thought we were pausing until November

Where isn't it November?

The 4.7 CFV I ordered in September, that was promised to "ship next month", didn't. I know I know, I can ask for a refund or shut up, but I can't imagine the thread will slow down until fixes are actually evident in reality.

Honestly, if this thread gets locked, another will simply pop up. As long as there is a mass of dissatisfied and concerned customers, they'll find a venue to vent it. I'm actually surprised that at this stage of things, this discussion isn't happening in the feedback forum.

It happened in GBU earlier this year.

19 pages and not a word from the manufacturer! A concern to say the least!

I'd prefer it if the manufacturer put all their time and focus into delivering what they've promised, rather than waste time thinking of excuses to come up with and writing them on these threads.

The legion got refined and turned into the Lionsteel M7 I think. Sans-fuller, as I think there were issues with the fuller acting as a stress riser and precipitating gross failures of the blades.

Doesn't seem to be an enki equivalent, but if you don't need a choil, the m5 looks great too [emoji1417]

I own an M5 Hunter as well, along with a Dendra Russian Bear (yet another Lionsteel knife). I think I own more Lionsteel than any other brand. They make incredible knives.

I recently cancelled my 3 orders with Survive, while it took a few emails and two phone calls, they were polite and I received my check. Please don't take this as Survive bashing, I actually learned a lesson from this experience. In the future, I will never pay in full for a product. While a small deposit would be acceptable, full payment with long production times is just not for me. I hope in the future Survive gets away from this current practice and wish them the best.

Well at least those of us who've cancelled some of our orders are helping the remaining orders get shipped sooner (in theory) :D :p

I just got the m4 and it is one of my favorite knives

Or at least freeing up knives for Monday sales later on. :)
Edit: At the new full price rather than the previous and discounted price.

It's Friday...

any news?

Lemme guess, the GSO-10 was jumped to the head of the production line and they're ready to ship!!!! :D

I'll save you the trouble of waiting for the Friday update:

GSO 4.7: being built and sharpened and shipping soon.
GSO 2.7: being built and sharpened and shipping soon.
GSO 4.1: we have materials in the workshop.....and shipping soon.
GSO 7/7: blades are in the shop.
Factory Seconds: you'll have your knives before everyone else, don't worry.

All other knives: good luck

Meant as a joke if course. Still love Survive lol.

What a pal, speaking up for the company like that.

It's no secret they've blown almost every time estimate they've set. If you can't laugh and joke about it what can you do. Doesn't mean I don't still support them, even through my frustration.
