Concerns About Survive! Business and Misleading Lead Time Estimates

I don't have the motivation to find the actual posts. If I am wrong, please let me know and I will edit this post.

Ellie has stated in the past that they will give refunds to anyone that wants one. More recently, she has stated that she will continue to offer refunds, but that she will not accept orders future orders from those that cancels an order.

Again, if I am misrepresenting Ellie, let me know and I will edit this post.

Edit = I cannot find the quote where Ellie stated the "small" part of my original post. While there remember it, with out a quote or confirmation from Ellie it is little more than here-say. Sorry for adding to the confusion.

Edit #2 = From S!K website:

"(For folks who instead choose to open a paypal or credit card dispute without ever contacting us, we will cancel your order as well as any future orders you place with SURVIVE!.)"

My order was promised in "a couple of months" it is now coming up on four months. But, even if there wasn't a stated timeline, I am pretty sure they still have to give you a refund if you ask when a product has not been delivered.

I am giving them the benefit of the doubt here and have been patiently waiting for my refund but, I am loosing my patience as they miss yet another deadline(the "few days" I was told). I will only wait so long before I have to put in a Paypal claim and file a complaint with the FTC. I hope it doesn't come to that. The question is, how long is long enough to wait?

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but at this point we should refer to what the LAW requires AND enforces and where we derive our answers from. That said, I don't find anywhere "Prompt" refund is defined. Is that days, Weeks, or up to a month?

At this point I am not canceling any orders. However, I will never order another knife from them. When my knives ship, I will sell them for cost and move on. Survive has left a very bad taste in my mouth.

That said, I don't find anywhere "Prompt" refund is defined. Is that days, Weeks, or up to a month? So lets do this, lets take the WORST conceivable case on what the law would consider "prompt".. worst case I would say One Month. (which is VERY generous) Best Case, Days.

I'm sorry, but I will not be waiting a month for a refund. Especially after I was told in by Survive that it would be a "few days". If I dont receive one soon, I am taking further action. Lets see what results from the inquiries to Survive that are being made today. I dont want to be rash and am giving them the benefit of the doubt here but, I only have so much patience.

For those waiting for refunds, please post any updates here and I will do the same. Thanks:thumbup:

So, let’s recap…

A lot of folks have pointed out flaws in S!Ks business models and their numerous missed delivery dates. Ellie made commitments regarding what was going to get done in October, and did not deliver. She also said that something to the effect that “you guys will be very happy by November.” Since then S!K has publicly stated that they now run the company on money gathered from sales of seconds and ugly betties. In October they sold 7/7s, 4.1s and 4.7s with delivery estimates of “a few months.” The new LE bushcraft knives are being sold now with 6 - 10 month delivery dates. The 4.7s are still not finished, after being initially promised for December 2015. 5 people have claimed that they have not gotten refunds after asking for them.

A lot of people still support S!K and want to see this business succeed. S!K still makes really, really nice knives at a very competitive price point.

I totally get your frustration. but it's a bit touch and go. If you feel that strongly, would encourage you to reach out directly to SK! (one last time) before taking any outside action.

I have emailed and will call tomorrow if I dont receive a reply. I also have started a new thread on this topic in case Ellie hasnt been following this one. I really just want to get this sorted out for all of us and want to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Tomorrow being Saturday, they may not be answer phones.

Right, lets see if they answer my email or new thread. If not, I will call on Monday. I believe others said they were calling today as well. Hopefully we will get this sorted out and get our refunds so we can all go back to our lives. No one, including myself, enjoys stressing over this I am sure.

That wasn't directed at you Timi, apologies if it seemed that way.

I'm not. I've been fairly vocal about the missed deadlines on the monday sales being un-kosher. I just questioned whether they had a stated refund policy, since I haven't seen one.

If the last few years have taught us anything I wouldn't be holding my breath unfortunately.
Sadly yes, but that's why I keep HOPING this month will be a turning point. I think there's plenty of reasons in this thread for the company to put more effort into positive changes. Making realistic predictions and sticking to them shouldn't cost them anything.

Damn.................. there it is.

Right there with you, HOPING.
Still holding out, not cancelling my orders. But as others have said, patience does run out. We'll see how November goes and I'll re-evaluate come December.

Meditate... say OMM... (One More Month)

;)

I just noticed your sig - あなたをあきらめるつもりはありません

Nice.

Instead of meditating, I am going to relax and watch the first season of RWBY. There are some REALLY nice blades on that show.

What's RYBY?

Not to be pedantic, but refusing to take future orders from folks that have cancelled out of VERY legitimate frustration seems a bit problematic, and more than a bit spiteful.

I, for one, cancelled a 4.1 order, after figuring out that the speculative timeline was hogwash, but was indeed planning on ordering another knife (GSO10, probably) at some point if/when they demonstrated a change in business practices, and remedied their current issues.

If her statement is serious, then it seems like my days as an S!K customer are over one way or another, and any further effort or attention regarding this company are utterly pointless.

I'll be spending my money elsewhere, and unfollowing this subforum.

What a complete waste of time this has been.

Timi, were you told anything about this when you asked for a refund? I haven't seen this policy on the site anywhere.

NC is absolutely a straight shooter, so I'm sure if he saw it then it was said somewhere, but hopefully it's not set in stone.
