Concerns About Survive! Business and Misleading Lead Time Estimates

Timi, were you told anything about this when you asked for a refund? I haven't seen this policy on the site anywhere.

NC is absolutely a straight shooter, so I'm sure if he saw it then it was said somewhere, but hopefully it's not set in stone.

Silver, did you not see Ellie post something like that? I am 99% sure she made that post, but I have not dug though her posts to find it and quote it. I likewise know you to be 100% a straight shooter and honest guy, so please tell me if my memory is off. It is not now, nor has it ever been, my desire to spread inaccurate info.

Now that I'm thinking about it I wonder if that came up in mlm's super fun thread in the GBU. Maybe it was only directed at one person.

Let's hope it's not something they're ready to enforce for the masses.

I have changed my mind and asked to cancel my orders via email this morning. No response yet. The lack of customer service and recent policy changes are the reason. I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Not to be pedantic, but refusing to take future orders from folks that have cancelled out of VERY legitimate frustration seems a bit problematic, and more than a bit spiteful.

I, for one, cancelled a 4.1 order, after figuring out that the speculative timeline was hogwash, but was indeed planning on ordering another knife (GSO10, probably) at some point if/when they demonstrated a change in business practices, and remedied their current issues.

If her statement is serious, then it seems like my days as an S!K customer are over one way or another, and any further effort or attention regarding this company are utterly pointless.

I'll be spending my money elsewhere, and unfollowing this subforum.

What a complete waste of time this has been.
I'm pretty sure that I remember this being stated also.

Well, at least I am not the only one. I am not sure if it was here, FB or Instagram. Silver brings up a good point; it may have been directed at one particularly toxic person and not company policy...

I am going to edit my post. In lieu of a quote, I am just spewing here-say, and that is not what I want to do.

The statement about not taking future orders is if you simply open a dispute with your credit card or Paypal, without talking to them first.

From the how to buy page:

(For folks who instead choose to open a paypal or credit card dispute without ever contacting us, we will cancel your order as well as any future orders you place with SURVIVE!.)

If you politely ask for a refund and give 'em a few days to post it, I'm sure you would not be banned for life, so to speak.

I stand corrected, yes I believe that this is correct. Thanks for clarifying this.

Thanks for clarifying this issues. The info I posted was not totally accurate.

Thanks, TR. I'm relieved now.

Thanks for that clarification!
So there's a good chance I won't get banned for cancelling 3 out of my 4 orders...

So, S!K doesn't work weekends, or just doesn't answer the phone on weekends? Not trying to be an A$$ but with all the delays and these threads, a little "overtime" might go a L O N G way.

Be pointless to process refunds on the weekends tho on account of banks and all, no?

DOn't know if they work weekends, but I do know they don't count the weekends on the "guaranteed" lead-times. The guaranteed leadtime at point of sale said 10 to 15 BUSINESS days which means mon~friday and does not include the weekend.

Update: Friday night and no refund on Paypal for me. Will keep ya posted.. (crosses fingers) I really would like my money asap because I have an immediate home improvement project going on.

If you have time to talk about disco balls, post pictures and brag about how well things are going over there on social media, surely you have time to spend a few seconds to issue some Paypal refunds that where promised to be done already.

A chargeback or dispute with Paypal will probably get their attention. Funny how that works when their primary payment processor gets involved.

For all the people also waiting on refunds, I suggest you voice your concerns over in the thread I started on the topic as well. It is more likely to be seen by Ellie over there imo:thumbup:

Its hard not to consider that maybe they dont have enough cash to cover all the recent refund requests and are waiting on more 4.1 LE and 7.7 preorders to cover the costs. I really wish Ellie would let us know whats going on so we dont have to be stressed over the situation. She has to have seen this or the other thread I started by now.

I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt before I go there but, I will only wait so long. There is no real reason for a simple Paypal refund to take more then a day. In the past, I have got the refund confirmation from Paypal the same day.

I hope not. What you are describing would be a form of a Ponzi scheme.
