Concerns re: ssbood (David)?

Stupidly I did use the pp gift option. Any one had experience filing a dispute claim as gift options? I email records of the purchase transaction.

You give up your buyer protection as the gift is meant as a gift, not as a purchase of goods.

Uh oh. I just PP'd him $185 yesterday for a Spyderco Mili Ti. PM'd him today asking about shipping info. I really hope this all works out because I foolishly gifted the payment as well.

I'll post an update here if I hear back from him.

Contact paypal and reverse thepayment. Tell them i t was a mistake. Since I can't get through via email, I sent a message to him another way.

Yeah, I also tried emailing him just a few minutes ago at the same email used for his PayPal account. Doesn't exist according to Google. That's when I realized something was up. Lo and behold, first thing I see on the the Exchange FEEDBACK sub-forum is a post with his name. Not cool. I think it's still kind of sinking in at the moment, although I still have hope that it'll work out.

At this point I think it would be wise to not allow anymore Exchange posts by him, at least until these multiple issues get resolved.

Also, not sure if PayPal will reverse a gifted payment although I'm about to get on the phone and see what they can do for me.

Just talked to pp. I used the gifted option using my credit card. Pp said that I need to file it w the cc company. Once pp is contacted by my cc, they will refund me that money. I dont think this is an option if you used your debit card.

This really sucks!!

Fortunately I didn't use gift, and never do as a precaution. He has responded to me via PM, so you might want to try that. He SAID he shipped the knives, who knows.

He didn't request it.

I just tend to offer the Gift option since some folks expect me to cover the fees and I try to stay frugal.

After this though, I'll never gifting another payment ever again.

The seller didn't request additional fees but you sent it as a gift anyway. You cheated Paypal out of their money and now you are going to call Paypal to see if they will help you get your money back. Wow, unbelievable. Even if he did want you to add 3% that is only $5.55. Sorry, I have no sympathy for people using the gift option. You should know better.

I also offered gifted pp. Never again.

Seriously. But of all places, I never expected a BladeForums exchange to go south. Especially, with someone who has nothing but positive feedback.

I'm not trying to cheat PayPal out of their money. Gifting has always seemed to be the easiest for both the buyer and seller and I was under the impression that the fees were more geared towards business-type transactions. I consider BladeForums to a group of like-minded peers and as such, impart a certain amount of trust into the community that up until now, had never been doubted.

That being said, you're absolutely right that I should have been wiser and just paid the extra money.

But let's stick to the point, ssblood has shown a disregard for the trust between the Buyers and Sellers of the Exchange here on BladeForums. And while I understand there are some circumstances that prohibit an Exchange from taking place in a timely manner, it's situations like that when communication is critical.

Seems like I got taken for $275. Sucks. I am filing a chargeback since I used gift option. Also we should tally the amounts so if this amounts to felony fraud then we contact the Roanoke PD and/or the Postal Srevice. Not saying the David will not come thru. I still hope for the best but am preparing for the worst.

I'm giving him the benefit if the doubt... For a few more days. I believe that sometimes people make an honest mistake so I'll wait until next week to see what develops. If nothing by then, then I will take action.

No forum anywhere is exempt for a deal going South. Your comment is kind of silly. Like I said, I've already contacted him, he may end up shipping everything out. Util he replies there is nothing we can do. Speculation is only going to fan the flames, as is stating the obvious. Let's not go there. Instead, let's wait a few days and see what happens.

I'm no lawyer, but I don't think it's going to be as easy as you think it is. It could be based on an individual basis, in which case, it is not the domain of the local PD (as we have seen in other threads with people doing the same thing). This is the domain of the US Postal Inspectors. You're not saying David won't come through, but you are already to go to war. Give it some time and let nature take its course. As I said, speculating is only going to get everyone even more riled up.

Yeah I suppose my comment was a bit foolish and naive considering the anonymity of internet forums. BladeForums has just always seemed so well behaved compared to other forums I've frequented and traded on.

I certainly hope this situation works out for all of us, buyers and seller alike.

Max, rycen and I really try our best to make this place as fair and transparent as we can. The other mods also share this effort. We want people to feel comfortable and safe to do deals here. We try to work things out as peacably as possible, but if it comes down to it, we will ban members and prevent them from conducting anything short of honest and straight forward transactions.

That is what you are doing when you are changing money for goods with a stranger. Sounds like you need to read up on Paypals policies. I'm not buying that you actually think gifting money to strangers for goods is what Paypal is geared for. Ridiculous.

This is a concern. I sent an email to Ssblood asking if the blue military was available? He said yes and it's mine so I paid him. Not paying attention to sales thread. But it looks like he took both our money for same knife.

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1108357-SOLD-Spyderco-Paramilitary-2-Blue-M390

Anyone have issues w buying from ssblood? I posted payment for a Spyderco m390 PM2 a week ago and have no shipping confirmation. My last 3 emails and 1 forum post to him have been ignored. During this time, ssblood has sold a whole bunch more knives. One buyer responded to my post and indicated that he is in the same boat w a purchase one day after me.

I was giving the seller the benefit of the doubt because he claimed health issues fir the delay initially. But when he went silent w me yet continue to sell additional knives...I am wondering if I have been swindled.

Similar issues w this seller? Thoughts/advice are appreciated.

Jack

I consulted with Roanoke Police Department and they advised me to file a report to start an investigation on this case. If I don't hear from Ssblood or receive the knife by COB today, I will proceed with filing a report. By my count, there are at least five of us buyers in this sticky mess.
