Concerns re: ssbood (David)?

Not mine yet, but I just escalated it to a claim yesterday. I think it would be quick too but maybe they're doing some digging themselves - not sure how that all works behind the scenes.

I believe Paypal gives the other party certain time frame to respond, if they don't respond...Paypal review case and make a decision.

That makes sense, I just figured maybe if a user has multiple claims against them that it may be handled differently.

Maybe it's the cynic in me but I just don't get why people would send money to a stranger as a gift. Don't you gift givers know you have no recourse if things go south? All you generous people please send all your gifts too D.W. Jones1212 at Gmail.com

Your opinion on this subject is well documented on this site. :) There really isn't any reason to continue beating the same drum in this thread.

We do have a thread in Tech Support about using the gift option at Should PayPal Gift Option be permitted for sales? We can discuss it here as well, but discuss the topic, do not attack other members.

Just wanted to call this to everyone's attention again...If you have a strong opinion about whether PP gift payments should or shouldn't be allowed on this site, follow the link above and vote in the poll. While of course this is just a poll and not binding arbitration, if enough people vote against it perhaps Spark will issue an edict.

Any update on member SSBLOOD? Please inbox me, I just moved to South East Asia -_-' I have some stuff to settle with this dude and being 12,000 km away doesn't help.

There is nothing unusual about a lurker coming across a situation of enough interest to get him to register and post. He could be happy just reading for a long time but now he has a question. That's perfectly all right.

Instead of interrogating him, we should be welcoming him aboard. :)

Agreed, however if he just became a member here I am just curious as to how he has 'some stuff to settle with this dude'. Perhaps he could explain his situation.

Jeez, always gotta be the voice of reason Esav!

I suppose I've just become overly skeptical after what ensued.

At any rate, haven't heard anything new here. Roanoke PD has all of my contact info so I'd assume that they would give me a call if they needed anything. Who knows, at this point it seems like the guy got off scot free.

I bought several knives over the years before I became a member or posted just by using sellers listed emails. First post does not always mean first experience for everyone.

Update: Roanoke PD stated that since I had the charge back from PP, I am no longer a victim...and hence do not have a case. It has been confirmed that ssblood resides in Roanoke and is under RPD's jurisdiction. It seems like they need to have a "victim" whose money has not been returned to establish a case. What irks me is that the officer said that PP may not even file a case against ssblood if the total amount that he scammed does not reach their limit.

For those of you who may not have gotten your money back, I implore you to contact RPD to move the process forward. It would be so wrong if ssblood gets away with this. -Jack

Well Jack, considering you used PP gift and still got your money back, I'm guessing that everyone ripped off by him is going to get their refunds...meaning there will likely be no 'victims' left. It's good for us but crap for making him pay for what he did.

+1... Paypal is the Victim in this case...

Ask that jerk with the Roanoke PD this;
"If I steal some jewelry from one of your citizens here in Roanoke and fence it, but said citizen gets their jewelry back (at the pawn shop's expense), will you only arrest me for theft if the pawn shop wants to press charges? Even though the original victim is willing to testify against me and can make a compelling case that I was in fact the thief, and intended to rob them?"

That is just lazy law enforcement. No victims in his jurisdiction, not his problem

Your right about PayPal. I'm sure they have an amount they are willing to lose to a guy like ssblood that they feel is cheaper than paying lawyers to try and recover.
