Condition, Condition, Condition

One of the better ones: "Has your typical snail trails and lightly sharpened, but otherwise in mint condition".

I hate when people describe a knife like that. That's a user folks nothing mint or new there. Sorry... The knife might pass for a Very Good - Excellent condition grade but not mint.

I've seen a lot of Striders described as having "typical strider marks on them" total BS IMO. I've had secondhand striders, even longtime users arrive in better condition than some I've seen for sale that were trying to be passed off as NIB or LNIB.

And I'll add that on principle will NOT buy anything using gift or add XX%. I see that in an ad and I move along.

Kudos. I've purchased a few by adding the fees, but when I've pointed out this rule (i.e. do not ask people to pay by Gift or add the fees), I've been ridiculed for trying to pay attention to the rules. Apparently, it is common practice to violate this rule that apparently enjoys no enforcement.

I think I'll join you in ignoring any posts that violate this rule.

Not a rule on here, maybe in other forums. Our rule clearly says that it is the buyer's responsibility to use Paypal as it was intended. Common sense in these cases is much more fruitful than enforcing Paypal's rules. They don't pay us a dime, so we just put it out there for those that do not already know. People need to learn what the potential risks of their actions can be, and be accountable from the start.

Warning: You as a buyer are responsible for using Paypal as it was intended, according to their Terms of Service. Using the "Gift" option revokes any buyer protection you may have if something goes wrong and makes it easier to get scammed. Be smart and protect yourself, if you use gift and get scammed don't come crying to us about it as you've already been advised.

Fair enough, and thank you for the clarification! I would have sworn that I read in some official thread here that sellers are not supposed to ask for Paypal Gift but are supposed to post one price that applies to any and all payment methods. Oh well, clearly I was wrong. Thanks again.

If people are willing to cheat paypal, what would stop them from cheating you? They delude themselves into thinking its OK since its just a company, what's to stop them from doing the same type of rationilzation with their description of the knife or shipping it on time?

I couldn't agree more. I have had this conversation with multiple sellers, explaining to them that I will not pay via Paypal Gift, even if I know and trust them, as an integrity issue. If I am buying something, it is, in my opinion, a blatant lie to pay via Paypal Gift. It isn't a gift. It is payment for goods and should be categorized as such. If you don't like the fee, don't use the service. Otherwise, those who provide a service have to get paid for it. When selling (on other forums), I have never asked anyone to pay with Paypal Gift, unless it was a trade and the other party is simply tacking on funds to pay for my end of the shipping. So, anyway, I'm glad to see that someone else shares my perspective. Well put...if someone is willing to cheat Paypal, why wouldn't they justify cheating you?
