i couldn't afford to buy a case every week.;)

jdracing,

What is the maker of the wood handled non-lockback one just below the smooth bone Case Mini C'head? (approx. in the middle of your photo set)

if you are talking about knife below the small red smoothbone?
that is a german made hugo koller.
ever hear of them?
it has coca cola etched on main blade as well.
very nice little knife.
thanks for asking,
jd

what makes a copperhead, a copperhead?
I see most have (eye brand like) 2 almost equal blades at one end
the others have 1-2 blades so I'm confused

I love the look of the queen city and the eye brand!

That's the one. Thanks. Never heard of 'em, but it's a good looking knife.

i had never heard of them either till i found these at an old time
collectors house in myrtle beach,sc.
i just happen to read his location on ebay one night just looking around.
we had planned a vacation there for the kids,so i emailed him and
asked if he had any less expensive than he was selling....he said yes and for me to visit while on vacation.
this guy has more knives than smkw.lol...no kiddin though,he knew james
parker and all the ole time collectors.
who knows,he may be a member here?
anyway, make long story short i found these in a bargain box of stuff
he had gotten together for my visit.
i had 2 of the wood, and the pearl like below it at one time.
they are very well made german knives with coca cola on the main blade.
i got a new case trapper from him that the handles h
looked like thay had melted off...i was hoping to learn how,or get someone to re-handle it for me someday.

Great looking bunch of copperheads/copperlocks. Thanks for sharing. Lots of unusual scales in the group. - Ed

I believe I have 18 total to show. My favorite is the ivory CL. Fond of any of these,as a close second- Abalone Sm. Shield, the olive green Ducks Unlimited, Purple appaloosa.

Enjoy,
Todd L.

It's the shape of the bolster, like a snake's head, that brings the name. It's a great shape in that it hides the sharp edge of the tang, making them very pocket friendly.

Figured I'd throw some new images of my Ruple "Copperhead" in here since I just got done sharpening and oiling it up.
(It was a great looking knife as received but it drove me crazy that for some reason it was left with thick bevels that just didn't cut it...It does now!)

The knife is 3 11/16" closed and features nice stag and CPM-154:

That Ruple is a beauty Elliott.I love the thin rings on the bolsters. Not to mention that stag which is awesome.I could go on,but ill shut up now.

Thanks, Don. No need to shut up...I totally understand. ;)

It's a great knife even with the little hairline scratches I put on the blade getting 'er tuned up. (Hey, it makes it a lot easier to carry after that. In fact, I think it'll be in the "totin'" thread tomorrow. :D)

In that case I'll add to it. This is a Case Dark Amber Barb Wire Bone Copperlock I recently acquired.

The copperhead thread has been buried for a while, I'd like to see some more pics! Here's a Bulldog I found last weekend, a stag stamped made 1983 with the Rabbit Hound blade etch. It appears to be one of the best made slipjoints I've ever bought, with excellent finish inside and out.

Thanks for that nice specimen Phil!

With Case reintroducing the 4 1/4" Copperlock pattern this year, it looks like a good time to pick a new knife up! If only they could make one in CV and MOP...

I'm not a fan of stag...but this knife is really beautiful. And the best thing about it, is that it looks really pocket friendly, due to its shape. And, of course, the clip/wharncliffe combo remains my favourite.
