THAT GUY^....

Alum of our very own La Jolla (pronounces laa hoya) Country Day School. He's close to my younger brother's age who knew some of his contemporaries from La Jolla Day, a very very preppy school for the rich white kids. Rumor has it that Tucker was very popular in the yard when it was time for beat-down sessions to let off some steam. I see lots of evidence in support of those "rumors".

They Are doing antibody test For Coronavirus at our local hospital for $60 if you pay cash. I need to get of my ass and get tested. Some of doctors in our county think it was here as early as January.
Ask them which antibody test they're using. Some of them have pretty spotty results. You ESPECIALLY want to make sure it's not one with higher chances of false positives (misleading you to believe you may be immune, when you actually aren't).

There are lots of unknowns about corona virus immunity, like:
- how long does it last, and
- are you protected from the reported 30 different strains of the virus (I would guess not)?

...
Personally speaking, I have not felt at 100% for a good couple of months this year. ...
Same here. Thankfully the symptoms have been mild, like excess phlegm in my throat and a slight cough at times, but I'm definitely not 100% ok; it's almost like seasonal allergies, except it started long before the flowers and trees were blooming.

Beyond Tucker’s faulty “logic” throughout, towards the end of the segment, he makes a blatant misrepresentation (some people call these lies).
Tucker states that “they” (<<I imagine this is a reference to people with degrees that know what they are talking about) said that the lockdown would “halt” the transmission of the virus.
Except “they” never said that. Assuming we are talking about the same “they”, this is false. A misrepresentation. A lie.
The purpose of the lockdown was to slow transmission of the virus so that the healthcare system wasn’t overwhelmed. That way people don’t have to die unnecessarily.
To each his own.
I’m going to stick with the critical thinkers using science rather than the political pundits using bad logic... and lies.

The sheer stupidity of some people is really astounding! What are these folks really thinking when they opine that they do not think that this virus (COVID-19) will not be around, say by this Winter, next Spring, next Fall and so on? There is a distinct difference between the disease and then the virus itself, so perhaps the cause and effect are being used interchangeably in semantics. Every single horrific plague throughout the human history still exits in the margins even the infamous Black Plague which is currently carried by some rats in Madagascar!

The virus is here to stay, period. Pretty much like something as weak as the common cold or terrifying plagues such as ebola on the other extreme side of the scale. The solution is either to come up with a cocktail of prophylactic meds and/or to develop an effective vaccine leading to herd immunity via inoculation.

I felt the shivers coming on like 3-4 nights ago, so I thought OH SHIIIT... Now, I fall sleep on the couch all the time without any blankets on me so usually this is par for the course but in the era of COVID-19 and my propensity for psychogenic symptoms, slightest twitches can become quite worrying!

I have been very good with social distancing, I mask up, glove up and the whole 9 yards for my infrequent essential outings so I had thought how friggin unlucky if this is it! Luckily, no fevers and after 2 days of feeling like crap, sneezes, phlegms, coughs and other common cold symptoms, taking acetaminophen plus supplements and drinking plenty of fluids seem be going in a positive direction for me.

Most of us are longing and yearning for an effective set of tests to start the process back to some semblance of normalcy but I fear false negatives and then the ensuing brazenness that one is totally immune, all the while infecting a bunch of other innocent souls!

Again, the big problem at the moment is that we STILL don't know enough about this virus, as yet.

All we can do is guess, based on experience with past/similar pathogens.
1) - we really don't know. Patients who've had SARS-1 showed antibodies ~2 years later, but the study of the 175 Covid-19 patients that showed up to ~30% not developing appreciable antibody titers is disturbing, because they recovered, but probably don't have immunity

2) - yes, there have been many small mutations discovered in SARS-CoV-2 already (over 1000 mutations found when comparing the gene sequences).

Are they differentiated enough to be considered different strains (i.e. no cross/broad immunity)? Not at this time.

While there's initial indication that some of the mutations have in fact, increased the virulence and replication rate in vivo (strain that's hit Italy and NY hard), the virus still attaches, and attacks in similar ways, so in theory, if you develop immunity after infection, you should be protected, but at this time, no one can be sure for how long.

The other thing that's so troubling about this darned bug, is the wide variety in how it can potentially attack. Are these reports just coincidental? We don't know.

don't want to focus on this hack, just want to point out this Swanson's family heir is a real piece of shit who's built a career going out of his way to spread social poison and further human misery. If you take anything he says seriously, it's a shame, and unfortunately you're not alone. Tucker is no exemplar of the 'meritocracy' he relentlessly insists on.

This (shortened version of the original 14+ minutes section) video is not meant to be political but edumacatinal and eyeopening ... An oldie but always a goodie, when a prescient 5'7" Jon Stewart mercilessly mowed down a 6'1" stiff aka Tucker Carlson with very precise foreboding. If you're a real yougin, no your eyes are not fooling you; Tuckers used to have be a co-host on CNN in the early to mid 2000s:

My mother in law forwarded an article how house cats can get the ‘Rona. She doesn’t care about our cats. She cares that somehow they could get it from me, partial furlough and still working, give it to my wife, her daughter, and she could get it.

Transmission doesn't always go both ways.

i.e. ***as yet unconfirmed***, but IF it's confirmed that it's possible for housecats to be infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus from humans, it may, or may not be possible for the infected cat(s) to then infect another human (there have been examples of this happening with other pathogens. Humans can infect some animal species, but those infected animals can't in turn, go on to infect other humans).

Again, the problem is that at this time, we don't know, but given the fact that the SARS-CoV-2 virus attaches to, and exploits the ACE2 receptors, it's definitely a possibility that infected pets could pass it to humans.
