CountyComm sucks.

Here was some of the suggested idea and product stealing I read about.

Nylon Single Sheaths >>> stolen from TADGear
Flamed Ti Zippos >>> copied idea from TADGear
Flamed CC knives >>> copied idea from Neil Blackwood & Nemesis Knives
Flamed Ti Crowbars >>> copied idea from Eric Blair
Reinforced pocket clip patches >>> copied idea from TADGear

It was also claimed, although I'm not sure all the details but it was stated that they had something directly to do with putting ARC lights out of business. If you do some research you can find some info out yourself. It is enough to make me reconsider possibly supporting a company that operates in that way.

Nylon Single Sheath
Look at both Eagle and Blackhawk Industires sites and say that TAD's is an original design. Again no patent or trademark by anyone. It's a pouch with a velcro flap. Well made, but certainly not original.

Flamed Zippos, Knives, Crowbars etc.
Flaming or torching ti is far from a new idea. I have a ti money clip that
I flamed/torched over 3 years ago just playing around. I know that others have popularized and refined the process, but again...it's not original, not patented or trademarked..merely a surface finish that looks kinda cool.

Reinforced pocket clip patches
I thought I covered that issue in my earlier post. But to reiterate, that is a feature that was patented by Wrangler, and once again, not on County Comms cargo pants.

As far at the flashlight issue I don't know much about it, but in researching it, a poster on the other forum had this to say:

"-Arc ran himself out of buisness, if anyone wants to hear the truth even Gransee said himself he cant run a company if you check his postings on candlepowerforums.
Also most of you probably didn't know that the Gransee who ran arc also ran three previous conpanies into the ground, just like Arc. I suppose Countycomm was involved in those to?"

So, who do we believe?

I'm still waiting for the friends of the original poster to come forward with their complaints about bad CC customer service.

I joined this discussion because I know both Frank and Nick at County Comm and I have found them to be men of integrity by their actions. As many of you are probably not aware, for several years now they have shut down their store for two days every Sept. to volunteer to do some hard physical work at the Best in the West SWAT Competion for the agency I retired from. In addition to their physical work, the have donated qutie a bit of equipment and technical expertise to our team at numerous SWAT trainings. This what I judge them by not by unsubstantiated rumors or innuendo.

And that is all I've to say on the matter.

Frank

I just ordered a couple CountyComm exclusive Maxpedition itty bitty wallets - who is Mr. 19-posts anyway? I called and asked to just do an order over the phone - I was asked if I could use the site as they prefer it that way, no biggie. In a couple days I will have a new toy.

TAD, while offering great client service as well as a ridiculous array of product, my impression has always been that they cater to the gear-queer set. Not a bad thing, but certainly the impression the site gives off.

On the other hand, CountyComm is for gear to get your job done and go on with life.

I'm not looking for a best friend in a mail-order outfit, just reliable service and good product.

Alright, ya got me. I'm confused. What the heck is "gear-queer?"

I think it means the type of people who have so much crap on thier belts and in pockets that it puts Batmans utility belt to shame. You know the type, ask what the EDC for them is and you get a list 14 miles long.

I think I'm one of them. :) My pockets are stuffed with gear and so is my shoulder bag. I am trying to cut back, but I admit I never travel lightly. :D

Yup, that's a gear-queer!

Okay, I went out last night with a seven-inch fixed blade, a five-inch fixed blade, a Sebenza, two LED lights and a Benchmade folder tucked in my jacket pocket. I was having a bad day. Considering where I needed to go, not entirely unreasonable.

On the other hand, I was so concerned about tooling up I forgot my friggin wallet.....

CountyComm rocks. No flash, just stuff you need or stuff that is cool.

There's a way to put keywords on a website so they show to search engines and not to viewers -- everybody does it; that's how you tell the search engines what your website is about (whether you're honest in your choice of keywords or not). There is no reason to hide words in a background like that, not to fool search engines anyway.
Last time I checked, which was quite a few years ago, tag words were indexed heavily, but so were headers and simple text in the page, thus actually containing text which references the terms would make a large difference in your rating. Thus lots of really small text on the bottom of pages, or black on black to provide higher indexing. Unless the search engines now only check for visible text it would still have a large impact if you filled a non-tad page with piles of TAD references to attempt to redirect traffic.

If you filled up a page with "tadgear" google would not say;
These terms only appear in links pointing to this page: tadgear

It would show in the source code, too. (It doesn't.)

No to do that wouldn't you need sites which linked to that site using tadgear references. It has been awhile since I checked search engine innards. .

I refer to myself as a gear freak. Everyone knows what that means. :)

I like both CountyComm AND TADgear. They each fill a niche. They both fulfill needs that are different, yet very closely alligned.

Okay, here's an update on my trial order with CountyComm.

Last Sunday evening I placed an order for three items at CountyComm totaling about 80 bucks.

1. Tactical Operator's Medical Kit - I ordered this becaus I have been shopping around for a GSW kit, and theirs seemed to have a list of contents closest to what I wanted. $40

2. Desert Tan Paracord - I needed some, and I heard someone question if theirs was 7-strand mil-spec or not.

3. Desert Tan Zulu watch strap - to go on my Traser P6500.

My order arrived Wednsday - quick delivery.

The Medical Kit was pretty much as advertised - except that it was listed as having nitrile gloves, but came with latex. No big deal. i thought this item offered very good value for the money.

Paracord - was indeed 7 strand.

Zulu watch strap - I ordered a Deser Tan strap, and they sent a black one. I sent an email, and they responded Thursday saying that they would send the correct item.

So, I'm waiting on the strap.Other than that, so far so good.

For those of you that were open-minded enough, I provided specifics as to the complaint I heard. Thanks for reading them and responding with reason.

Jerok-

Now THAT is a proper fair and balanced update/post. Thanks.
It had just the facts (good and bad) just as YOU experienced them. Complete, accurate and without any hearsay. Good on you Jerok. ;)

Unfortunately, I do see that "other company" continuing its negative attack on CC with their recent other forum post, and even refering to them negatively in their product line on their website. Rather petty and unprofessional IMHO.

Best,
Frank:cool:

I ordered a BOB and some odds and ends over the Memorial Day holiday (May 31). They responded to my inquiry about status with two emails. Order arrived today. All present. Nice bag. Nice prices.

Not the very easiest site to work with. Maybe it's my browser or ISP.
