Cover Shots

What a great thread. Lotsa talented snappers in these parts. I particularly like the group pics and old timey gear shots. Some of 'em look like you guys spent hours getting everything in the shot setup just right. I just don't have the patience to drag out more than three or four knives at a time. :o

hey Bob that loooks great. I have something like this effect on a phone app. I was thinking of using but you beat me to it. main camera has a buggered sensor and is out of service. New camera is maybe for xmas .
Thankfully it held out for six weeks with the family in England .

Rick-thats a lovely line up of knives, and a fine shot it is Sir! The Stag on the Right hand knife is just beautiful!

I always like this shot I took - I sold the knife a while back..... :grumpy:

Great photos in this thread guys, look forward to seeing more...:cool:

For some reason i like the way this one turned out
i wish i had the patience to really do these right, usually I am in a hurry and i try and get a shot thats in focus, no blurriness or something unpleasant in the background :D

i'd probably need a better camera too if i wanted to come close to some of you guys :p

The effect was done in an old (free) version of Photoshop. The actual effect was some built-in filter, then faded the edges, and finally changed the level of opaque/transparency. The original picture was actually done on a flatbed scanner, no camera needed:

Wow, what a great thread!
I'm enjoying all these pictures with a tinge of envy, as my photos aren't that good. The knives on display are fantastic too

Charlie you made me laugh out loud with the 'drummer' and knife photo, LOL

Cheers,
Griff

Thanks very much, Kevin! I'm really enjoying it. Waiting for your cover shot!

Love it...wow that Elgin makes the picture sing

You are welcome, Gevonovich. I haven't had my camera out since I took the axe picture. A Hurricane came through and diverted my attention elsewhere :)

If I can think something clever up I will post it in here.

Thanks Kevin. I hope all is well with you and your family. No worries brother, take care of whats important!

Thanks for giving me a swift kick in the tail, Gevonovich. I LOVE taking pictures. Let me know what you think of this one if you please. One of the treasures I found of my grandfather's. I used my OLD but tried and trued point and shoot. I did not have strong brilliant lighting and this camera struggles with noise in these situations, yet I did the best I could with what I had. I hope you enjoy it.

Now were rocking!! Sweet! We will call it "Treasure from Grandfather"

Ed is right...just post a pic and do the best you can. Dilts said something else....The more you do something, the easier it becomes, and the more you do it...repeat this 3 times.

Post away.

Thanks, Gevonovich. If the magazine editor was so inclined they could filter out the clock face and trim to a graduated blackness for an uncluttered headline. I just left it since I find it interesting and no editor is actually going to use that photo. I agree about practice. I have been shooting since I was a little kid, well over 30,000 shots and I am only 28 years old. :)
