Cover Shots

I have very few photo's I would consider post worthy. Most are terrible.

I only use my Cell phone. Some day, I need to get a nice camera, but it is a ways off right now.

I call this one Scout N Fish. I took it while taking a few Boy Scouts fishing for their first time. We caught about 6 fish in the same little spot on a small stream/run off. We camped next to it the night before.

This has been a great thread so far.

I gotta say something here - just one of my observations about pictures here on the forum.

Sometimes the knife in a picture is lost in the background behind the knife. Too much distraction. Are you (used generally) taking a picture of a knife or a picture of leaves, maybe rocks, food, etc. that a knife just happens to get in the way of. In other words, concentrate on the subject of the picture (the knife) not so much the enhancement. Just my .02¢ .

The White Cloud and the Blue Mountain

“The blue mountain is the father of the white cloud. The white cloud is the son of the blue mountain. All day long they depend on each other, without becoming dependent on each other. The white cloud is always the white cloud. The blue mountain is always the blue mountain.”

I guess if we're going to discuss photography we ought to take this over to the "Photography Discussion" sub-forum (where it belongs) over in the "Activities, Training & Skills Development" Forum and get back to knives in this forum. Sorry if I stepped on your toes.

I did not feel like you were stepping on toes

You pointed out some of your opinions on photos. You learn to take any and all commentary with photography. At least I do. Its good to get as many perspectives as possible. Lord knows you can study and practice photography until your blue in the face and each photographer will still end up with their own style. I always appreciate your feedback, as I also appreciate anyones feedback. Its something you learn to embrace IMO.

With that said, I agree that you should start a thread in the photography forum. I suggest that often. There are lots of great folks there with their own styles and information to offer. Pros stop through and I have also posted quite a lot. If you make a thread I will come help you out with anything that I can :)

Beautiful Rinos!

Ed, you did not step on my toes and I would not even consider stepping on yours. I appreciate your input and that of everyone else. You’re right, let us continue forward, this is not the place to discuss photography, and hence what I was trying to say.
Words are not a very great percentage of communication and so it’s very difficult to convey intention using only words. I thought by using some Zen philosophy I could get my point across.
My point was … let us be open to the unknown. The whole process of the conditioning of the thinking, of the known, encloses us in the field of thought and prevents us from discovering the unknown. I want and I know you do too, to be inclusive of everyone and their present state.
I thought it would be nice to be open to all possibilities that may arise. To be the solitary white cloud nourishing the mountain and the mountain warming the white cloud, then nothing and no one is missing or left out.
Let us experience each other’s creativeness with empty hands.

Forget it. All I was trying to say was that sometimes we lose sight of the object of a picture because of the clutter in the background whether we mean it as clutter or not.

Hm... I´m just thinking about a title for this cover shot... what about "American Made German Hippekniep"

This pic could be part of the article itself....
