CPK Pet Thread

When I look at him, and because of his beautiful muscle tones, E., I keep thinking there might be some Ridgeback in his lineage ....
Funny that you say that, Roland. One of the dogs that Robert, (the neighbor referred to above), babysits, for hours or days, is a Rhodesian Ridgeback that belongs to some neighbors about a half mile away who own a small brewery and restaurant locally. Nice folks.

That dog is mental...was always somewhat indifferent to and jealous of Skyler when she, "Jake" and the RR, "Silas", would be together in the yard. (Plus he would frequently "air hump" Jake which made us laugh our asses off.)

I know they're supposed to be great dogs but because Silas is the only one I've ever known, I've never warmed to them. He's a snob when he sees us generally, and will only deign to come over to be petted if he's in the mood. Plus he's bipolar imho. LOL.

Weird dog.

He's a pretty cool boy. He's a bit reserved at times, but very affectionate. He's clearly trying to find his way and figure out what's expected of him, and what he can expect from us. He follows me around a lot, leans in on me for affection, (and the missus), and is very chill.

He is coming along very well on the lead. Corrections are smaller and less frequent, only a few per walk now.

There is work to be done on his following basic commands but that will come.

All this in less than a week.

Our "cabin sitter" has two Rhodesians, they are pretty quiet and well behaved ... they are massive dogs though. There are other and smaller variants, like the Thai Rhodesian.

Anyways, love that you share your stories, he's beautiful and - from your stories - seems smart and a quick learner.

The only Thai Ridgeback I have been around was a psycho that needed meds. All the Rhodesian Ridgebacks I have seen were great dogs.
