I'm looking for a good folder in 3V or INFI. Any recommendations. I like a larger blade 3.75"+

I'm really mad at myself for missing out on the Koster Folding Bushcraft knife in 3V. I waited for 3 months on the wait list and got the email to purchase. There was only 7 spots left so I clicked on the link to start my order. Got a phone call and stepped away from the computer for 5 minutes, came back and it was sold out...it is such a badass knife.

Anyways now I'm looking for a knife to fill the void until I can order the Koster on the next round.

Recommendations? I prefer 3V over INFI but both will work. $500 or less. Thanks in advance!

Just out of curiosity, since 3v and infi are known for their strength, wouldn't you gain more benefit from a finer grained alloy or something that can take a finer edge? Considering on a folder, one is led to believe that the weak point is the pivot, being weaker than the blade itself.

Looking forward to your response

there is no INFI folder... closest you'll find is maybe a Vanax folder (Kershaw Tilt, Shirogorov).

Also, see Bill's response (post #2)... totally agree.

Busse are the only knives to have INFI
Busse has never made a folding knife.

S90v or s110v is just as amazing in a folder. Unless you are going to buton it. Then find 3v.

Greg Lightfoot has made some tac folders in 3V. Although you'd probably cause deformation in the washers/bearings, or breakage of the stop pin/lock before messing up any knife blade.

Spyderco Tuff comes to mind. It is in 3v. I think it was recently discontinued but is still available from some dealers. Don't know if the look will be right for you, some folks think it is ugly. I've always wanted one but never pulled the trigger.

Ferrum Forge Ferox is in 3V. It's also serial-machined, so the price is around USD 500.

The Ferox is actually cpm4v, which just about as tough as 3v @ 60 but more wear resistant. I had one for a bit and it was a great slicer considering how beefy it is.

There's always Farid; his folders are big and use crazy steels...:thumbup::thumbup::cool:

I have 50+ folders now...so I'm specifically looking for 3V or INFI. Doesn't need to be a production knife. Custom will do. I own knives in s35VN, d2, CPM d2, 154cm, CPM 154, s30v, 1095, elmax, cts 204p, s125v, s90v, n690, m390, super blue, VG-10, 440c, cast 440c, 10V, and so on. Just looking for something Different. If the folder is overbuilt it shouldn't be weaker than the steel, edge retention is good for the 3V. So I'm not looking for advice on steels. I'm looking for a folder in 3V or INFI. Thanks again.
