CPM154 and the future

i'm with rev on this.

a cpm154 millie, para or manix would be pure gold.

the yojimbo isn't really my cup of tea.

i imagine the popularity and demand of the para 2 is the reason that it's usually first pick..

Yes, but the green ones aren't due to like June or July. I suspect one of the other models could be churned out sooner. The Yojimbo is sold out in a lot of places so its popularity is there as well. I just love Wharncliffe blades.

Well, since it's Christmas time and all... I wish for this theoretical future CPM154 bladed PM2 to have a flat saber grind, rather than FFG... PLEASE SANTA..er Sal!

to each their own.

i'm sure the yo2 is a great knife, it's just not one i would desire any special treatment for.

it's also not one i would expect any variations of (but i could be totally wrong).

Vanadium carbides (S30V) are harder than Molybdenum carbides (CPM 154), the difference would be the finial hardness of the blade steel, s30V at 60 and CPM 154 at 62, that would give CPM 154 a higher compression strength. :)

That works for me, but the probability of final hardness would be just under what custom makers use. Just a guess though.
RevDev is begging.
Ain't nothing wrong with that. ;)
Tan G10 like on the M4 manix would be amazing!
Tan or coyote brown would work for me. Good idea.

I like the Yo2, it's a nice knife overall. But more people seem to like the blades with belly (Manix, Mli, or Para2) and would be more likely to use them. Again, just speculation on my end. :D

Doesn't it seem more likely to see more S90V and 204P popping up in other models now that Spyderco actually has two regular production knives using them? (Southfork and Southard)

I mean to say, they must have either a stockpile or regular orders of the stuff right?

good point.

so rev, what would be your first pick?

tan para 2 with cpm154?

there's never been a tan paramilitary to my knowledge.

i want one.

Not to split hairs ( pun intended ;) ) Carbon Fiber CPMS90V Yojimbo 2 and Xl Manix are due next year.

I am down with this. A Para 2 or Military with Tan G-10 and CPM154!

well played.

i never really got into the yo2 so i haven't paid much attention to the future models.

the millie, para and manix are a different story though.

i think we're onto something here.

I would love to see it on a Carbon Fiber Para 2 myself.

We've only had the one CF Para 2, so its about past time for another IMO.

I also prefer steels of this type over the super, super steels like S90V, 204P, etc...

It would keep cost down a bit over those steels, and steels in this range have a perfect balance IMO. Holds a great edge, while being pretty easy to sharpen.

Thats one reason I kept, and use, a CF Military with BG42 over the S90V version.

So who else would buy a CF Para 2 with CPM154 ?

i would buy any para 2 with cpm154 to be honest.

that's an awesome combination ken.

I would put my vote in for a tan Native 5 in CPM 154. I love the compact yet very user friendly size of the Native 5.
