Crafting a Grail: Phenn's Vallotton Pimping Journey

Dude, I'm stunned and speechless.

Wow! Major props to the craftsmen who made this happen! Some of you I know well already, but I never knew I needed such an awesome leather sheath until now. Jed, I'm pleased to have played the tiniest of parts in this story, but you took the simple seed I gave you and grew it into an amazing work of art. I'd say enjoy it, but I'm sure you're just sitting in a room now drooling over it! Cheers, Radioactive ;)

Thanks man! This definitely wouldn't have happened if it weren't for your sale thread! And you're not kidding about sitting around drooling over the knife. I can't stop fondling it. Though that may cause problems at the new job—not everyone knows I'm a knife guy yet. :D Can't wait to get some good pictures up. Hopefully this afternoon!

This is the best thread on BladeForums.

High compliment! Thanks, brother! It's made possible by the craftsmen who worked on the knife. They're the real artists.

Beautiful work all around everybody involved! I never thought I wanted a knife on my belt until I saw this one. Very nice work Gary!

^ Thanks, Jed. That looks proper, very slick. I've only ever carried fixed blades, and even that is seldom, in a sheath on my belt... but that Vallotton definitely wouldn't look proper with a clip!

Here you go:

It's a little further forward on my belt than I usually carry it, but I figured it'd give you a decent idea of how it sits.

This is single handedly the coolest knife project I've ever seen, I hope your amazed with the finished product because that's what the pictures give off. I need to do this with one of my grails.

Oh absolutely. I find myself marveling how much I like the knife. I worried that having to wait four-ish months to get it back would wear away at my enthusiasm, but I'm well and truly satisfied with this puppy.

If you ever do pimp out a grail, put up pics!

Just saw you had this for sale, if i didnt already have one this would be the one to get. very nice craftmanship and a great price also.

Holy crap! I like the blacked out look and the wood scales look. The sheath is very slick too. Did you specify the custmizations or allow tye crative genious of the customizers?

Yeah, it went to a good home, though. Just never got carried. It was a hard call, for sure. But knowing that I could get the same guys to recreate it at any time (hopefully) is a comfort.

I had the vision, the guys executed it wonderfully.

You turned a good looking knife into a great looking knife.

Sheath not too shabby at all either....to say the least.

Just have to say again that this turned out absolutely stunning.
