Crap or nah?

I would definitely advise not to use a knife against a werewolf. OP was asking for swords advices as he knows that distance is paramount against dog men.
Darned straight. Distance IS paramount if your dealing with a werewolf. I would recommend staying out of range. For example if the werewolf is walking down the street of London I would recommend being at least a distance of say... Bangkok. Also how do they get their hair so perfect?

You're better off with bear spray, if bears are your concern. (And silver bullets, if you're worried about werewolves.)

USMC is not a knife brand. The Corp doesn't make their knives - that work is contracted out to various manufacturers, and those are the name brand you would be looking for.

Honshu... Isn't that a United Cutlery line? If so save your money. While some of their products are usable, the consistency isn't great & the failure rate is pretty high; so I wouldn't recommend using them in situations in which such failure would be a problem. (ie trying to defend against a bear, or as a survival tool.
*Edited to add - I got curious and looked up the review on SBG. The sword was sent free for review, so I suspect it was given a preliminary inspection by BudK; but it held up to the testing and got a decent review. I then started looking elsewhere and found the sort of things I expected - unsightly gaps, parts rattling or loose on receipt, bending or breaking with little use, rattling or loose parts after use, and (of course) complaints about it being overly dull.
Looks like you've got a shot at getting a decent piece with this one...but there's a reasonable risk that you won't.
You know thinking about it... what if we invented werewolf spray?

Well, classical Werewolf/Dog-Men literature (https://gizmodo.com/why-it-takes-silver-to-kill-a-werewolf-5780897) states clearly:
"If you smell rotten eggs around a person, you know that he or she's a werewolf. Or that they have gas. Try to run another test before you stab them."
So, if BudK would be selling sulfur oxide coated blades, that's what is really exposes and harms them... - But I don't think they sell such blades, so if you don't get a "sulfured steel blades" by accident or impurity of the alleged steel, you're SOL.

But please get something from them, you seem to be right on top of their marketing strategy. You won't be disappointed if you use it accordingly and tell no one about it.

You are probably right. That and from what I understand you've got something called Chupacapras out there. Not sure who wins in a fight between werewolves and chupacapras.
We don't talk about the Chupacabras here. They don't like it, and they are always listening...

Oh crap, they're here. Remember, I said nothing.

My go-to for Lycanthrope slaying is Cold Iron; waaaaaay more effective than silver, but unless you travel to Forgotten Realms on a regular basis, it can be a little bit unobtainium.

I’d suggest you grab something big and silly by Cold Steel and try to bluff the werewolf. Iron…Steel…no big diff.

And avoid BudK.
